This is not true.  It's common to require 60cr of GE, but there are plenty of schools that don't: WGU only requires about 30cr, TESU only requires 45cr, COSC only requires 12 courses, many of which can overlap; UMPI only requires 42cr; Purdue Global only requires 9 courses.  These are all just off the top of my head.  There are MANY more than I could find that don't require 60cr of GE (especially if they allow free electives, which most do).

typically the first two years are called general education. I didn't mean for you to get all literal. Yes, while some specialize in their first two years, not all do. The first two years are typically classicaly considered the general education years in college, which every single one requires. WGU and COSC are summer children with their unique requirements for this. But, it is not unusual to have half of your degree, or near half of it to be general education.

I'm not getting literal - you are the one that said "ALL" American college degrees require 2 years of GE.  That simply is not true.

Like I said, I haven't seen this generally speaking.  Many many CC's offer courses in the major, so you can be way ahead by the time you take credits to a 4yr school.  AAS degrees require very few GE's (like 15-20cr).  For 4yr degrees, I generally think of them as ⅓ GE, ⅓ major, ⅓ electives, or something along those lines.  Definitely not ½ GE.

I don't know what "summer children" are - never heard that one.
