US History 1
#1
Hey everyone! I just signed up for InstantCert to prepare to take the US History CLEP exam. I have been doing some light studying this past month, and I am hoping that this site will give me the extra boost to prepare to pass the exam. I am hoping to take the test in about 1 week. Has anyone taken the US History CLEP exam recently, and if so, can anyone give me any extra tips/hints etc to prepare for the test! I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks everyone for your support and encouragement! And best of luck to everyone else who will be taking a CLEP exam!

I took it just on Thursday.

I found the flash cards and the lists of topics in the exam-specific thread to be right on target. The flashcards cover most everything. The few things they don't (e.g. Phillis Wheatley) are mentioned in the exam thread (just look those items up in Wikipedia). I also read the REA guide, but didn't find it of much value beyond the IC flash cards. Of course, it's okay and you could probably use it instead of the IC flashcards.

Anyway, I got a 73/80 and felt that it was a moderately easy test.

Open Yale Courses | The American Revolution

Professor Freeman made it a pleasure to study the American Revolution. The videos are on itunes and youtube. These lectures help to understand the big picture rather than just the facts. Besides, there is nothing like getting a Yale education for $33 per credit (CLEP Cost).
