currently have 88 credits at a local community college from years ago and looking to transfer in to UMPI for a BA. I received a AA in Business but I am sure many wont transfer in. It is my understanding from reading here that I should wait to transfer until I have all 90 credits but they wont give a pre-evaluation on transfer credits until I apply. what is the best way about figuring out what classes I should take on Sophia, Study, instacert ect without taking unneeded courses? here's what I have now, not real important which degree and not necessarily sold on UMPI just looking for the best way to go about not being a construction worker anymore so I can actually live at the home I pay for instead of hotel rooms haha

You're going to need a foreign language. InstantCert Spanish is the quickest and easiest if you're not already fluent in a language. CLEP or an ACTFL exam would be better if you are fluent in something not-Spanish. If you're fluent in Spanish, pick any of those options.
Otherwise, it looks like you've got most of the GEC requirements met for UMPI and, perhaps, some of the business requirements, along with some electives. Hopefully, someone can chime in soon with what requirements (if any) you're still missing.

You're just two credits away from the 90 max, *just apply*, see what's missing and required, then finally decide to take a course from CSM Learn, CLEP/MS, Sophia.org, InstantCertCredit, Saylor, or whatever provider you're interested in getting that one final course into UMPI. The remainder would be from UMPI anyways, you might even take the final course at UMPI if it's an "easier" course.

I totally agree, but my fear is that I transfer and have a lot of courses that wont transfer into UMPI towards a BA. It took me 88 credits to get my AA because I didn't get to use all of my credits towards it. from what I have read on here, once I apply I'll be accepted and automatically enrolled. So if they take say 70 of my credits that's what Ill be enrolled at and paying more then Id need to. I'm just trying to make an educated guess on how many of my classes will transfer towards the BA and if I should take more courses before I apply.

ss20ts and/or ashkir should be able to help you figure out what (if anything) else you need to take. You definitely need the foreign language, though. UMPI requires that for all degrees.

Very much appreciated! I will definitely do the Spanish as you recommended! I read Ashkir's smartsheet on his 6 month BA and tried to match as many courses as I could its just hard to guess what they will let me transfer as what, Ill wait and hopefully one of them will chime in. Thank you again!

Welcome to the forum. I am currently enrolled at Umpi, and about three months ago, I was in the same situation you are right now. You are asking questions at the right place.
I enrolled with about 70 credits, and by the time the session started, I was already at 90. Once I was accepted, I had a conversation with my counselor and told her that I was in the process of finishing some classes, and she was okay with it. You also have the option to delay your starting day if you want, so you will have time to complete your credits. As rachel83az mentioned, you need a foreign language for sure, so that will be a good start.

After looking at the UMPI website It appears that the next session doesn't start until 1/18/22 so if they are okay with me finishing up some classes before the start date that would be great as Ill have plenty of time to do a few! thanks for the info, Ill apply now and start with the foreign language until I hear back from them or others here on what additional courses I will need

Here's what I recommend you take before applying. Don't apply until you're actually read to start because once you're accepted to UMPI, you're an enrolled student and you'll need permission from your academic advisor to transfer classes in from outside of UMPI.
Transfer = a class you've already completed
UMPI = take the course at UMPI
GEC
(this is UMPI's general education curriculum - everyone must complete 40 credits in the 5 learning objectives). You can read about them here:
http://catalog.umpi.edu/content.php?catoid=4&navoid=153
Many classes will be used multiple times to fulfill multiple learning objectives.

Yes, you will have more than 90 credits. You'll need to complete a minimum of 30 credits at UMPI and complete the majority of the UL courses at UMPI. Most of us have had to complete more than 30 credits at UMPI. Some of your classes will transfer in as general electives and others will not apply to the degree at all. Courses on Sophia are nothing like college courses. They're MUCH faster so don't stress over what you need. You have more than enough time to get this all done before January.
I don't see which UMPI degree in accounting you're going for. There's 3 options:
BA in Accounting
BA in Business Administration with Accounting Concentration
BLS with Accounting Minor
I gave you the info for the BA in Accounting. If you're going for one of the others, let me know. Feel free to send me a pm with any questions you have about UMPI.
