I am just curious...are the undergraduate unofficial evaluations at Excelsior pretty accurate? I am afraid of enrolling only to find out I need a bunch more different credits or I took the wrong one. I have had programs change on my a couple of times at a community college in Michigan so I am fearful of it happening again. I am also wondering if Organizational behavior would suffice for a Social Science credit at Excelsior? If not can someone point me in the direction of an easy Social Science or History course, I only need one credit in that area.

According to the updated Student Guide to Credit by Exam and Assessment catalog from EC, the Organizational Behavior DSST is under the Social Sciences/History heading.
As far as Unofficial/Official Evals matching up, mine went swimmingly, and the evals ended up being the same. There were no problems once I pointed out that their student guide said they awarded UL credit for one of my certs for which they had given me LL credit. The updated guide still shows it as UL credit too, so maybe they got that straightened out on their end.
I have heard of other people losing credit on eclectic prior learning that they had with their official eval as well as having heard people who got unexpected credits from something overlooked on the unofficial that was fixed with the official.

I agree with TMW. Keep in mind that until you formally enroll, your evaluation is simply a rough draft. The unofficial eval is meant to give you a general idea of where you stand. With that said, I found my initial eval to be very accurate. If you've done some research on EC and they think theyâre a good match, I say go for it and apply. Their customer service is excellent. If you haven't seen this yet, here's the link to assessment catalog- https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_Coll...atalog.pdf.

Excelsior is a well-oiled machine when it comes to receiving transcripts and evaluations. If you can only imagine the amount of transcripts they receive on a daily basis from CLEP/DSST exams, its gotta be alot. They have always conducted the updated evaluation in a timely manner when they receive a CLEP/DSST transcript and always accurately.

I don't know if I'd say 'always' They told me that my unofficial eval would be ready on a certain date. It took an extra week for some reason (so basically 5 weeks for the unofficial.) And it also took an extra week for the official one as well. And my Uexcel test took 4 days to be received where they're supposed to be received and updated in 24 hours.
Shrug I lived with it... And otherwise, I've been quite happy with my time at EC so far.

I've taken both Intro Soc and Org Behavior. If you only need any credit go with SOC-101 Introductory Sociology. In my opinion it was not that difficult. Pass easily using IC.

excelsior is as was quoted above a well oiled machine. some people have had problems with them....others with TESC, but in the end i think they both serve us well.
they are much better to navigate than the bureaucracy that you run into from BM institutions... you're not lmited to winter, spring, summer, and fall courses and the ease of using transfer credits makes it a winner in my book!

Thanku all for the replies. I think every school has a few kinks here and there. I already have taken Intro to Sociology at community college. I am so close I think I will do my next Algebra class through Aleks and then enroll because Math seems to take me a while lol.

I am wondering if I can wait until I get all of my ACE classes finished and on my ACE transcript before paying the money and transferring them to Excelsior or do I have to do one at a time. THanks
