Update on Sophia English Comp II
#1
Hi, just wanted to give an update on this course. I decided to go ahead and take it while it's free. It's not as bad as I originally thought.
Here's a break down for anyone that may be interested:

Touchstone 1.1: Summary Response Essay (2 to 3 pages) (approx. 500-700 words)

Touchstone 1.2: Research Question, Thesis, and Outline (no word count listed) (This will be for Final Essay)

Touchstone 2.1: Analyze a source (no word count listed) (This will be for Final Essay)

Touchstone 2.2: APA Annotated Bibliography (This will be for Final Essay)

Touchstone 3.1: Argumentative Essay (2 to 3 pages) (no word count listed) (NOT part of Final Essay)

Touchstone 3.2: Draft of Final Essay (6 to 8 pages) (approx. 1500-2000 words)

Touchstone   4: Revised Final Essay from Touchstone 3.2

Good info to have. Thank you! I have to sign up for this course the end of the month and had heard there was a lot of writing, but this isn't bad at all. Then again at CSU I write a 3-5 page paper every week for 6 weeks then the final paper is 10-15 pages the last week. So in 8 weeks, that's a lot of writing.

Glad this helps. I put it off because of the amount of writing also. It definitely isn't as bad as what you are doing at CSU. WOW! Makes me feel bad about my original complaints. Good luck to you.

That's not bad at all. Still not thrilled about the whole process, but it could definitely be worse. I think I'll drop ASU English 102 to focus on Sophia. I can still pick it up again on the 18th, if needed.

Yeah, it is not too bad. It's just more burdensome when you're combining it with other coursework with writing.

How fast are you getting your touchstones graded? I need to take it also but hearing 2 weeks to get something graded and you can't move on to the next assignment until the prior one is graded. Seems like it will take forever at that rate and require extensions to even complete the course

I submitted my first assignment on 7/16/20. Three assignments have been graded so far. I submit the next assignment the same day I get my last one back graded. On 7/22/20, I submitted my 4th assignment. Hope this gives you a good estimate.

Ok thanks, that sounds MUCH faster than other people were reporting a little while back.

Just an update for me. Mabe they changed the system but it now allowed me to submit all my touchstones before getting the previous one back. This will drastically speed up the process. I got the first one back graded already in 1 day.
