Warnings about foreign grad programs?
#11
I've researched UK programs, and I guess my initial observations were wrong. I'm not seeing very good prices now. I think I was forgetting to look for the international student prices before. I also didn't realize about the numbers of credits. One program I found today was cheap per grad credit, but the program was at least 120 credits.

In addition, I found one program that stated 1 year full-time, but then elsewhere they stated the minimum was 2 years, and most students took 2-3 years. So I wonder if they initially thought students could complete it in 1, but they forgot to update that portion of their site when they realized it was more like a 2 year program. It seems a lot of programs are part-time only.

Overall, I would say the biggest thing is that you WILL need to explain your grad school at some point. While most people have never asked about COSC (ok, a few people,) once I got my MBA, no one seemed to care about the undergrad. But in interviews and conversations since I graduated in 2013, I have had PLENTY of people ask about grad school. Luckily, it fits my career in a way that no other degree would, but just make sure you have a story behind your choice.

Mine is a Global MBA with a focus in Emerging Markets, but it is from two schools, Regis University in Denver, and a sister Jesuit school in Guadalajara, ITESO. The good thing about it was that since it was partly through a US school, I was able to get loans. Even better, since the partner school was in a lower income country, they reduced the price by 1/2. So I have a Global MBA from Regis and from ITESO, at half the price of just a single Regis MBA. (Which I'm still paying off, but I have seen the ROI many times over)

Anyhow, those types of programs are hard to find, and they discontinued mine a few years later, but they do exist. Just thought I'd mention thinking about some sort of joint program since it helps you explain the degree and qualify for loans.
