derek12538 Wrote:I am hoping for a August or September start date, as it is all dependent upon how long the TESC capstone takes (starting it in two weeks). I would love to chat with some others who may be considering the plunge around the same time!
I was torn between WGU and a couple other programs (Heriot-Watt, ENMU, UND, USD) and have done a lot of research. However, it just fits me better, as I am somewhat of a mid career professional with a great position already; I just want more opportunity. At this point, I do not need prestige, I need applicable skills and quite frankly, the title.

I am looking at a Jan 1 start date hopefully. I am looking at WGU and Patten, but I am leaning heavily towards WGU

Has any one had an issue with WGU's GPA policies? I ask because they only go up to a 3.0 and I would need to have a 3.5 or better. It already melts minds that I have no GPA through TESC. Could be a deal breaker for me.

For what its worth I slid right into the DBA program at Capella with my WGU MBA. Although many would argue that Capella would admit just about anyone breathing. They never even gave a second look at what WGU considered to be "grades"...

From WGU:

"Qualitative MeasureThe university defines demonstrating a competency (a grade of Pass) as a grade equivalent to a “B” or better (3.0 on a 4-point scale). Students receive a mark of "Pass" or "Not Passed" on their permanent academic record for any courses for which they enroll in a term, regardless of whether they attempt an assessment. A grade of "Not Passed" is counted as competency units that are failed and are counted against SAP".

I can see this making a difference if you end up applying to an uber competative Doctoral program, maybe there are a few jobs out there where it would matter. I work in healthcare, been interviewed numerous times myself, I've sat on countless hiring committees for both clinical and non-clinical positions....never once has the subject of GPA come up unless the applicant happens to put it on their resume....even then I've not seen it become a matter of discussion. In my limited experience GPA is a non issue.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.
