What is the Cheapest or Most Affordable Emergency Management Associate?
#11
I already have a TESC AAS in Applied Computer studies with all the FEMA courses in the transcript.
Is it possible to list it as
"AAS, Applied Computer Studies in Emergency Management Thomas Edison State College"

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Not only would that degree name look really weird, but it would also be inaccurate. You could list your FEMA certificates in "other education and training" on your resume or make mention of them when describing the contents of your AAS on a cover letter.

Clackamas Community College AAS in Emergency Management is easy! 30 FEMA IS courses at $40 per FEMA course is cheap. You attend an EM Conference (one course) in your State, complete one EM work CWE/Co-op (write an EOP for your work or some other 180 hour EM task), and attend a CERT course locally. Not hard for 85% of the USA.

rebel100 Wrote:Actually...you could complete an AS General Studies at Charter Oak and the FEMA would be free. It wouldn't expressly be in EM, but I'm not one to feel this makes any difference....others will disagree. I would do that, and put it on my resume like this:

"AS, General Studies, with concentration in Emergency Management Charter Oak State College"

You could theoretically bring in around 30 FEMA and the rest could be CBE or what have you to fill in the Gen Eds....and of course the cornerstone. Could likely be done for less than $1500 or so.

You know that FEMA has a couple of certificates they themselves issue...there is a PDS and APS (the APS has other requirements)....these are free or nearly so.

Red Rocks CC in Colorado, Clackamus in Oregon and Guam CC all have AS degree's using FEMA...but other requirements make them hard to impossible.

Fun list here as well Emergency Management Institute (EMI) | The College List - Colleges, Universities and Institutions Offering Emergency Management Courses some take the FEMA IS courses others don't, but interesting programs out there.
