Newbie Question:

I looked everywhere and even went to the website. What is the procedure for signing up for this test? Website to purchase test voucher?

Thanks

You schedule your test through your test center. You do have to create an account, but you can do that ahead of time, but remember your username and password so you can log-on when you get to the test center. You create your account here https://ibt1.prometric.com/index.asp?ibt=9275781512& Sometimes this link doesn't work. If it doesn't, just go to getcollegecredit.com, and go to test preperation and click on "Take a practice exam". It will take you to the same screen as the link. Then you can click on "First-time user".

I'm not sure what you mean by a test voucher. If you are talking about a coupon code to get a discount on your test, then you can use NEA10OFF. You will enter that code in the computer when you're at the test center. I just used that code on the 15th of January.

Hope that helps.

I did not register for an account ahead of time. However, I was able to create an account at my local test center.

This is right. I didn't mean to imply that you HAD to register ahead of time. I was just saying that you could.

Oh, please don't misunderstand me. I wasn't refuting your advice....in fact, I definitely recommend registering early. I was just sharing my experience Smile

I scheduled with U of Washington every time, drove down there, nailed the test I paid for, went to a couple of book stores to celebrate, ate something, and then drove 70+ miles to get home...passing a USN facilicy that had the same testing, but lacked the ambiance, book stores, and places to eat. Always a day well spent! Smile

I think the confusion is coming out now that CLEP requires testing candidates to create an account on their website which is then used to register and pay for their test. You can print out the registration ticket (or some may call it a test voucher since there is a voucher ID number below the ticket number) to take to your appointment.

DSST is different - hasn't changed. You find a local DSST test center and follow their instructions to make an appointment. Yes, you can create your testing username and password ahead of time on any computer or you can do this when you show up for your first appointment.

Please remember that this username MUST be different that the username you might create for the DSST practice tests! Many people do not realize this, will log in at the test center to take an actual exam, only to see that they will be charged $5 for the test. This is not the real test because they logged in under the wrong username which is tied in to a different series of exams.

Oh, and the test fee is charged at the time of taking the exam at the test center -- credit card only for the computer-based exams.
