Would class in "selected topics" of Am & Brit Lit cancel out credit from both CLEPs?

I took a class in "selected topics" from American and British Literature. Would that prohibit me from getting credit for Am Lit or Eng Lit CLEP? (Note- Im doing it to get additional credit as a teacher, not necessarily college credit, but I cant get credit for CLEPS in classes Ive taken).
