I think that's wonderful. Of course CA's bar exam is also harder than, I believe, 47 other states.

We have the worst pass rate of any other state, by far - roughly 50% pass.

Also, I think less than 50 people here have ever passed the bar doing this alternative option.  So, it really is not a great option, but then, neither is spending $150k at a law school with a crappy pass rate.  And then making $50k a year...

If you are going to make up stuff, do a better job.

Four year stats  139/637 = 22 %  This includes repeaters so the number who ultimately passed approaches 40 %. Northwestern California University
School of Law claims their ultimate success rate is about 50 %.  Oak Brook College of Law & Government Policy has pass rates in the ballpark with regular law schools.

There are also law schools in a different category for Distance Learning Schools with accreditation but no Bar Association accreditation.  There results aren't significantly higher.

The statistics in 2016 and 2017 don't have as much detail.

In the 4 years above 139 people worked hard and likely ended up with a law degree without quitting their job and going into debt.  That is something to be celebrated.

University of the People's RACK RATE would be $4000 because you pay for proctoring if you took all your courses with them.  They take all your ACE, CLEP, etc so no reason to pay rack rate.  You could get that cost way down.  I've not done a degree plan, but I'd estimate you could come in close to $1500.

COSC, on the other hand, costs $4000 AFTER you've already done all that.  UoP is before.

And you can do self-study, you just have to also have a certain amount of hours of training under a judge or attorney.  Either way, you do not need a law degree in CA to become a lawyer.  We are quirky that way.

You're posting the pass rates of un-accredited schools' students (online or otherwise), NOT self-study apprenticeships that dfrecore is talking about. The self-study method does not require any formal schooling, just guidance by a judge or attorney. these are two very different things.

She's not trying to "make up stuff," you simply misunderstood her two posts.

Hey Old Guy, as jsd pointed out, I was only talking about the self-study option.  No need to diss me, no need to be rude on this forum.  I also said that the bar pass rate wasn't great in regular law schools here, and they spent a heck of a lot more money, so I was kind of making the same point you made about not getting a ton of law school debt.

Ok, so we went from NA Masters to NA vs RA associates, then to unacredited schools, then to state accredited schools....now we are talking both accredited and unaccredited law schools? You guys crack me up.
