You still have to have 33 total hours in your major (for liberal arts): 3 UL Capstone, 15 upper level hours, 9 200-level hours, and 6 100-level hours. Of course, you can replace lower-level hours with higher-level ones, but those are the minimums. In addition, many people use extra 100-level major courses to fulfill general ed requirements, so you might end up with over 40 hours in your major area throughout your degree.
