free electives is BSBA
#1
Hi Everyone,

Last time I looked at my degree progress TESU has accepted the three TEEX courses (before the redivision) as my 6 required Free Electives.  Now when I look at it they've accepted two of them and there is a big yellow warning which says Exception Credit Overage Nat World 2 4 S H required and the unused course has been moved to "other courses" ie non degree.

Is this just a case of a need to ask for an exception or should I just knock out a TECEP or another study.com course in basically anything.

If thats the case, can anyone suggest the easiest TECEP ?

Thanks

You don't need to change anything, it's saying that you only need 4 elective credits (because you took 5 Natural World credits), and that those were filled by two of the TEEX courses, rendering the third unnecessary

The Free Electives area is in last place for credits. So, when you take courses, and you are over in certain areas, it shifts things around. So, let's say that you take a 2cr Ethics course; your GE Electives are going to require 1 additional credit than it normally would, to put your entire GE area at 60cr. Now, instead, let's say you take a 4cr College Algebra course; your GE Electives are going to require 1 FEWER credit than normal. After the GE area gets filled up (it has to have a minimum of 60cr), let's say that you end up with 61cr; now, your Free Electives area will need 1 fewer credit. Going back to the original, and you have 60cr in GE. Now you take Accounting I at your CC and it's a 4cr course; that will reduce your Free Electives area by 1 credit.

Just know that I've looked at thousands of transcripts, and created hundreds of degree plans for TESU, and less than 1% of the time is a degree exactly 120cr. The rest of the time, there are extra credits in GE and/or extra credits in the Major area, and that creates an excess in Free Electives. As a matter of fact, many times, there are enough overages that you don't need any free electives when you're a BSBA major, since only 6cr are allowed. All it takes is 2cr in GE, and 4cr in the major, and you have no need of Free Electives at all (I've seen it a bunch).
