  Information Systems and Computer Applications

The study questions for this exam seem really outdated. Is this really a good resource for studying for this? Do you think the actual test is also this outdated? I mean, there is stuff about floppy disks, SCSI drives - some not too current topics.

Find a Course-Independent Study in Idaho-University of Idaho University of Idaho

I have been looking at this site and wanted to pass it along. They have a LOT of courses for a really great price! There are just about all the Gen-eds (except lab science), and numerous Upper Level in several subjects including Business, History, Social Science, etc... Best part is the self paced nature and the PRICE...About $325/3 credits.

Might be better than LSU for some courses, I may give the Microbiology a shot if EC will accept it as a nursing pre-req.

  College Board CLEPs
Posted by: michigan0626 - 04-26-2012, 04:43 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

Maybe its because I have not signed up for Instant Cert yet, but on instantcerts website it lists 20 exams that they have study material for. But when I go to College Board's website, they say they offer 33 different cleps. Does instant cert not offer study material for the other 13? I just figured it was too big of a difference to just be a website error.

  Question on TESC possible capstone
Posted by: Gooberman11 - 04-26-2012, 04:29 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - No Replies

So, I will probably be finishing up my BALS degree by the end of next school year (June 2013). I'm not really in a rush! BUT, if TESC is adding the capstone I'd rather not have to take that class.
My question is should I enroll at TESC before July just in case they are adding that requirement? I know I can finish in a year if I have to, but I'd rather wait till I'm a little closer to finishing to enroll. (I still have about 30 credits left.)
If I enroll in June would that ensure I don't have to do the capstone?

Any advice would be appreciated!

  Let me get this straight
Posted by: SmokeEm - 04-26-2012, 01:43 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (1)

I like to test out of subjects instead of taking the course if I can. Let me get this straight, the TECEP Business Policy(renamed to strategic management) fufills the business policy credit requirement and the DANTES test Ethics in America fufills the buiness in society credit requirement at Thomas Edison, right?

HELP!! Can't find a decent DSST testing site in Western NY
Posted by: Lindagerr - 04-26-2012, 09:54 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (7)

I guess I was spoiled by Western NJ we had so many testing sites within a 90 minute drive I could pick and choice my favorites. I just moved to the Buffalo are and the only site that administers DSST charges $140 and I am not sure if that includes the $80 to Dantes and to top it off they only offer the PENCIL and PAPER test. There must be 100 college campuses within an hours drive and I can only find one that offers DSST. If anyone knows of another PLEASE let me know. I only need one DSST to finish my AAS but I will need 5 DSST to earn my BA in Social Science.

Need Some Assistance With Crafting a Major
Posted by: jnewton - 04-26-2012, 07:58 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

I already have a solid test-only + capstone plan for a BSLS from EC. I need some help designing a test-only approach with a major in History.
The requirement is min 30 hours with 15 UL -

Question: Can the Capstone count for UL in the major? If so I am set. If not i'm stuck.

I came up with:

6 - CLEP - Social Science & History
3 - CLEP - US History I
3 - CLEP - US History II
3 - CLEP - Western Civ I

3UL - DSST - Civil War & Reconstruction
3UL - DSST - Rise & Fall of the Soviet Union
3UL - ECE - World Conflicts Since 1900
3UL - ECE - World Population
3UL - EC - Capstone

Thanks for the assistance!!!

Columbia Southern University and FEMA credits?
Posted by: squeeze - 04-25-2012, 07:33 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (10)

I have searched this site for quite a while and cannot seem to find any info. or threads on whether or not CSU
will take FEMA credits.

Can anyone tell me how CSU will transfer the FEMA credits in? Direct or transcibed? and how do they count? electives only or
course specific? and how many can be transferred in for the Bachelor's degree.

If transcribed by COSC or TESC then how are they accepted at CSU?

I am looking at the environmental degree.

Any info. or input anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Also, if there are any current/former CSU (Columbia Southern University) students here that could weigh
in on the school and their programs that would be great.
