  CLEP Language Exam Questions
Posted by: gratisair - 03-14-2007, 03:45 PM - Forum: General Education and Testing Discussion - Replies (1)

I am planning to take CLEP French I and II

From what I have read it seems that only French II is worth 12 credits and that French I is worth maximum of 6. Does anyone know if this is correct?

I studied French for ten years but have not picked up a textbook in a decade. How much of the exam is conjugation and specifics of grammar? Or is it more simply supplying the correct word to fill in a blank or complete a sentence?

Is it more about for example, "j'ai" vs "je suis" type of questions?

Any help is appreciated.

Hello
I read thew boards and read the boards so much information. Ok my questions are I have taken the fema classes and sent off to FCC to forward my transcript to the univeristy which I attend. I assumed that since FCC is RA that another RA univeristy would accept the transcript. Seem like I read in a post that a Univeristy may not accept it. Maybe I am confused.
I have taken about 18 of them in hopes to use them as electives.
Am I to try and get in Excelsior ,TESC, or Penn Foster . I want to complete my degree at my current University but can these help me progress along.

Ok one more question I am almost done with all my psy classes ( only 2 more to do )which I totally took no testing out .But I still have some general ed classes to take which means I have alegebra to take which heck I am so dumb in math and then I have a computer class to take .Oh can some one give some guidance on what to do.

I would appericate a response.
Thanks In advance. I want to be finish so bad.

Organizational Behavior DSST, can someone help please with a cherry on top?

I did a search on this but would greatly appreciate detailed feedback from someone who took it and remembers the names, concepts and theories they were tested on. I have found this type of feedback for other tests here and have found it quite helpful. Otherwise I'm sort of in the dark here, not sure if I should spend time memorizing all the names, theories and stages of e/t IC is supplying or not...

ECE Exams: Who is taking them
Posted by: Casey1300 - 03-13-2007, 12:51 AM - Forum: General Education and Testing Discussion - Replies (4)

Well I'm proud to say that I am pretty much done with my Lower Level Credits for my Bachelors of Science in Liberal Arts degree. I am pending a English and Math requirement.

I know there are a lot of Excelsior students on here, so I would like everyone to post if you are studying for ECE exams. I have a few links that I have researched that gives a little study advice. I am about to take 9 of these badboys and will post as I take them.

Please give back any advice if you have scored well (A or B) on any of these exams. Books used, how long of study, and grade would be really helpful.

Intro to Business and Personal Finance
Posted by: scherrd - 03-12-2007, 08:29 PM - Forum: General Education and Testing Discussion - Replies (2)

In a moment of weakness I decided to try and knock out two tests in one sitting.

Intro to Business: I took this test first. The only thing that I had done was go over the IC flash cards one time and then looked over parts of them once more. Total of about 4-5 hours. This was a CBT test so I didn't have to wait for results. There were 100 questions. It took me 30 minutes to complete, then another 10 to review questions. I counted 13 that I had no idea on. Passed with a 67. I wanted to do a brain dump, but I don't remember any of it.

Then...

Personal finance: Since there were no flashcards, I used the Peterson's test guide, scored 37 out of 60 on that and reviewed those areas that I did not know too much about. There were 98 questions on this test; it took me one hour to complete and another 10 minutes for review again. Scored a 65.

Here are some of the high points that I remember:

Know about risk
Be able to calculate interest over time. If you have financial calculator and know how to use it, it would really help.
Retirement plans and IRAs and Keogh, which are tax deductible, deferred, etc.
Bonds
Types of taxable and non-taxable income
Bankruptcy and Credit problems
Credit cards
Mortgages: PITI, escrow, qualifying
Stocks Tongue/E, EPS
Installment loans

That is all that I remember at this point. I hope this helps someone

  GRE Subject Exams
Posted by: Inteljustice - 03-12-2007, 05:50 PM - Forum: General Education and Testing Discussion - Replies (4)

Since Excelsior and COSC both grant credits for the GRE Subject Exams, is this a viable option for obtaining a degree. For example if I took the psychology gre and passed with an 80% I'd have enough credits for that one exam to qualify as a psych major. And if I failed and still scored above 40% COSC would grant me anywhere from 18-24 credits. This sounds like a fairly simple idea for obtaining credits faster. Even though GRE subject exams are only administered 3 times a year for civilians.
