  Just Wanted To Say Thanks
Posted by: DutchMom - 04-25-2011, 02:32 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

Since I recently passed my last DSST test, I will no longer be needing IC. I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me along the way these past few months. I could not have done it without your help, support, and guidance. This forum has been invaluable to me and I can't thank everyone enough for their help. So THANK YOU to everyone! And good luck in your future endeavors, academic or otherwise!!!

How long for TESC to receive transcripts?
Posted by: Elinor - 04-25-2011, 02:21 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (5)

I know there's probably already a thread on this, but I couldn't find it using the search.

I sent my CLEP, DSST, and FEMA transcript request forms in about 2 weeks ago, I think. TESC has received my FEMA transcripts, but not the CLEPs or DSSTs. Is this normal? or should I re-send the forms? I can wait, but I was wondering what a typical receiving time is.

Oh, I sent the ECE transcript about a week ago, too.

Thanks!

  Management Information Systems DSST
Posted by: Shemrat - 04-25-2011, 01:29 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (22)

This is my final exam due to the fact that I failed Introduction to Computing. Sad What do you all think? Is it tough? I plan on using the flashcards and a couple of study guides. Is the content primarily computer-oriented? I ask with the hopes that this DSST may satisfy my computer knowledge prerequisite.

TESC Liberal Studies vs Social Science
Posted by: LaurieBTX - 04-25-2011, 10:09 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (7)

Right now I'm in the middle of my evaluation for graduation by Thomas Edison, but I've hit a little snag: Thomas Edison doesn't count ECE "American Dream" as a history course but as a social science course. This is super frustrating to me as anyone who has taken this test knows it's at least half history x-( .
Luckily though, I still qualify for 2 other degrees with the credits I have: Liberal Studies or Social Science.
I'm having a bit of a hard time deciding which degree I would rather, and was wondering what y'all think?
To me, Social Science sounds a bit more, I don't know, reputable Tongue ? Maybe just because it has the word science in it Wink Anyway I would love to know your opinion!

Thanks a lot.

  Challenge: Cheapest degree 4/25/11
Posted by: cookderosa - 04-25-2011, 12:04 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (17)

Ok, so who would like to play? I realize not everyone appreciates my nerdiness that LOVES this kind of game, but it'll be fun for people to read too...so it's win-win! The challenge is to create the absolute cheapest degree possible under today's tuition/accreditation/college policy/etc.

Rules:

1. Must be a bachelor's degree
2. Must be from a regionally accredited college or university
3. Must be in the United States

Assume that there are no limits to the student's resources or abilities. Assume that the student is paying cash for everything (no grants, no GI-Bill, no ROTC, no reimbursement, no dual enrollment programs, etc).

Ready.....set.....go!

For those who graduated, how was the graduation ceremony?
Posted by: Ace_King - 04-24-2011, 08:02 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (5)

For those who graduated at one of the big three, can you tell me how the graduation ceremony was like? Did a lot of students show up? The reason I ask is I want my family to see me walk at the ceremony that day. Since I live all the way in Miami, Fla. I want to make sure if the ceremony is actually worth going to. If I decide to go with COSC, is the COSC graduation ceremony pretty big? Or just a few students? I think EC is one of the biggest since they have allot of students. I just don't know about TESC and COSC as of yet. I was thinking of just waiting for them to see me walk when I receive my Masters degree closer to home. Hmmm...

  TESC grad letters?
Posted by: blu2blu - 04-24-2011, 07:44 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (3)

Has anyone received a grad letter for the upcoming June TESC graduation? My evaluation shows 120/120 and I know they have charged the VA for all tution/fees etc. and my account is clean. When I got my AAS I remember receiving a letter stating that I had completed all requirements and when my degree would be conferred.

Just wondering. Thanks.

How long did it take you to finish PreCalculus via ALEKS?
Posted by: CollegeStudent7 - 04-24-2011, 05:06 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (21)

Just curious. I started about 6 days ago and I still barely have 50 of the 389 topics covered..I think it's 389. I did an initial assessment and have been plugging along slowly..putting in an average of 1.5ish hours per day over last 6 days and others said they completed it in a night or a week...I feel like I have a long time coming.

  Inexpensive Traditional Courses
Posted by: dackmolly - 04-24-2011, 05:00 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (3)

While I will be able to test out of many courses I'm going to need to take approx 9 regular courses (3 credits ea.) to complete my music major.

I'd like to know if there are colleges out there that have cheaper out-of-state tuition than TESC ($193/credit hour) and offer music courses. (many community colleges don't offer any/many. Big Grin

Oh, and this is for the purpose of transferring into TESC btw. That's where I'm planning on getting the degree.
