  Excelsior Graduation question
Posted by: cde - 10-28-2010, 12:09 AM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (2)

I was told by one of the advisors at Excelsior that after you finish the last class you need to graduate they will automatically put you in the system for graduation.I didn't need to do anything. I just finished my last class last week. Does anyone know how long does it take to get into the system? Thanks.

  Victory dance!
Posted by: blu2blu - 10-27-2010, 10:03 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (9)

I knocked out Intro Psych and DSST Org Behavior today (upper level @ TESC!). This makes seven tests in four weeks and 45 credits since I returned from deployment in mid August, I am on a role and feeling great! My total applicable credits towards my TESC BA/LS have now passed the century mark at 102, only six more tests to go!

I am actually in a different part of the country right now (vacation) and would like to thank the folks at the Luke AFB testing center to allow me to test there. I was able to speak to a couple of fellow IC members in the education office as well and that was great. We are everywhere!

I invite anyone and everyone to add to this thread any recent accomplishments they are proud of. Share in the victory dance!

"Must include at least two subject areas" Question
Posted by: Paul - 10-27-2010, 09:58 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (5)

The TESC Associate in Arts degree plan states the Humanities requirement is 12 credits and "Must include at least two subject areas". Are American Literature (6 credits) and Analyzing and Interpreting Literature (6 credits) two subject areas?
Thanks!

Especially, if only have internship or volunteer experience, but no
"real job" experience. Would have long work history, but in restaurants. TIA

  Why get an Associates degree?

I've noticed may here have an Associates degree, and plan to continue on towards a Bachelors. I am curious why people decided to do this since it costs more money.

I went prepared to take the Ethics in America DSST this morning, finished it in half the time, got brave and also did the Substance Abuse which I had NOT studied for! Scored a 433 and 444 respectively. (Got lucky- much of the substance abuse test concerned prescription drugs- schedule ll or lll, benzodiazepines, antipsychotics...stuff I deal with at work.) :hurray:
Six more credits!

Department of Education Seeks to Regulate Higher Education
Posted by: Mamasaphire - 10-27-2010, 11:00 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (8)

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but it looks like it might effect testing for credits and thus important...

"A recently proposed regulation would give the federal Department of Education unprecedented authority over all colleges and universities—even private ones.

The proposed regulation, entitled “Program Integrity Issues,” would create new accreditation rules for public and private colleges and universities. It would also allow the federal government to determine what constitutes a “credit hour,” and would require colleges and universities to submit to additional regulation and supervision by state and federal officials....

The final regulation will be issued on November 1, 2010....
We urge you to write or email your U.S. representative and senators and let them know your opinion on this rule."
