Ok, I think I am starting to get into my statistics groove, but then I just got stumped on a few practice questions tonight. In my practice questions, they ask for the standard deviation. My calculator (and book) use n for "population SD" and n-1 for "sample SD"....so in the question, what would be my assumption if they don't specify population or sample? Their answer matches population, so I see what they did, but will the DSST exam specify which they want, use or is there a rule of thumb?
THANKS!!!

How similar are these exams? Can one even compare them? I ask this because I am taking the Environment and Humanity The Race to Save the Planet DSST exam and an internet site (don't have it) said that the AP Environmental Science exam is the same as the DSST E&H exam. Is this a fact? Anyone care to comment?

I was wondering if anyone has used their notes to pass the Natural Science exam? On their website they state that it is only 40 pages long and helped them pass the Natural Science Clep Exam. How do they compare to Comex or REA? I am really interested to know which is the best product for this exam. Any feedback would be great.
Also is this test composed more of biology or chemistry?

Hello All,
I am new here and need some help. I am in the military (24 years) and can take the exams for free, but I am not familiar with a lot of the materials required to CLEP. I have picked up some of the study guides, but since I do not know the material, they are really not of any help to me. I am within 3 credits from an AA with Central Texas College (Eng Comp w/essay, US Hist II and Algebra) . I CLEP'd English Comp w/o essay 8 years ago, but they will not accept it so I will have to take the one w/ essay. I took College Algebra in 1987, but the college I went to back then mis-entered it as "Intro to Algebra" while upgrading their system and cannot find the orginal records, so I have to take it again. The problem is, I do not remember any of it. Is there any hope for me or am I just going to have to suck it up and take the actual class? I have not joined InstantCert, just the forum. Any help you all can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
DCW

Hi,
I just want to inform people about this website. I was looking for extra materials for my wife to use in conjunction with Instantcert.com. They offer a study guide and email consultation with a previous test taker. I downloaded several of there several study guides and guess what Business law, Marketing, and Management where exactly the same. English composition, American Literature, English Literature, and Analyzing literature were all exactly the same. Natural Science and Chemistry had all the same information. College algebra same as Calculus. The last two had very small differences. They offer a full refund if you are unsatisfied with the study guides. They told me I would get a refund but to never hear from them again. I just want warn people about this group.

Finally received word from TESC this morning that I passed the English Composition 1 TECEP examination. That was the last course/exam I needed to satisfy all of my degree requirements for an Excelsior College Liberal Arts Degree. I only need to forward the TESC transcript to Excelsior to have it conferred.
Thank you to everyone who inspired me to not get caught up in the weeds and just stay the course when Excelsior didnât accept my prior 15 semester hours in English. Reading the many posts helped me to just knock out the exams and not get carried away in the minutia for petty requirements like WER.
Following your advice and anecdotes I was able to knock out 40 sem hours in less than 90 days admidst three weeklong business trips, directly participating in a weeklong field exercise and the many other daily distractions of life. By simply reading the discussion board I could see people who were accomplishing more, enduring more despite being afforded less. Your posts did the trick for me. When I thought it was too tough I just scheduled the exams anyway and bullied my way through to the goal. I received many low scores on the ECE exams but I have to admit haste-makes-waste, and I chose the hasty path.
Regardless, I'm done!
Again, thank you, ICS

As the title reads i passed my second clep with a 61 however i found this test much more difficult than socio, it could be because i am a senior psychology student and socio somewhat ties into psychology however i found this exam somewhat tricky and socio to be more straight forward...although my socio grade was a tad lower at a 55
