Posted by: acs1122 - 01-03-2008, 06:50 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

I'm looking for study material for either the PHR or SPHR cert.

Here are my google search results:
1. PHR & SPHR Exam Study Guide Reviews PHR & SPHR Test Prep Tips - Improve PHR & SPHR Test Score Results - Answer PHR & SPHR Test Course Sample Practice Test Questions with PHR & SPHR Exam Secrets - Go Stress Free from PHR & SPHR Test Registration to PH
$39.95 for printed study guide

2. HRCP - Human Resource Certification Preparation
$25 for 500 flashcards

I'm leaning towards #1 but I'm not sure...Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Also there is a great website called iStudySmart.

EC world population

got a C, Studied only IC for about 6 hours. I started getting scared though when I first started the test. They were asking questions about the 2000 U.S. Census.

I was hoping for an A grade but hey I'll take a C just try to get some A's on the next few.

Next exam is Abnormal Psych on the 17th.

Thanks Everyone! this forum has helped a lot

RE: Getting Bad Grades Removed at Excelsior
Posted by: barbara2bba - 01-03-2008, 12:37 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (13)

My fail on the DSST Algebra is going to cost me BIG. I was told by an advisor at Excelsior that the only way to remove the grade is to re-take the same exam. If I take another algebra or quantitative required course it will not count to remove the grade.

I was hoping to finish my degree requirements by the end of February but I have to wait 6 months to re-take the DSST algebra or take another test and let that sink my GPA as a failing grade. The advisor suggested that I request a waiver from DSST to take the exam sooner. Has anyone ever done that?

  Stuck in the mud
Posted by: larry7crys - 01-03-2008, 12:29 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

Hello everybody! As of late, I find myself stuck in the mud, accomplishing next to nothing. I don't know what is wrong with me. Everything seems to be getting better (especially after surgery) and I have more free time on my hands. I could do more FEMA credits and take more exams (not needed but what they heck), but everytime I turn on the computer to start studying, I blow it off. Reminds me of times when I was in high school. I wouldn't study until the last minute and do essays the night before. Still happening to this day. Just wondering how I could get off this bus and learn a different way. Anyone out there who was able to defeat the computer ADD? (no offense to anyone in any way)

Larry

REA vs Peterson's vs CLEP Tests
Posted by: Avor - 01-03-2008, 12:18 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

Between the tests in REA CLEP Study books and Peterson's, which one more closely resembles the CLEP test? In addition, is the chart in the REA books a decent approximation of the CLEP score you may receive?

I'm taking the Biology CLEP and can't afford to not pass it. My college requires a 56 for credit and I want to go in with ample "padding" in case the test is a little harder than expected.

I've been taking the tests as I studied to monitor improvements and for motivation. My amount correct for Peterson's were 62, 69, and 57 (today; that third one was a doosey!) and for REA has been 63 and 75(today).

  Chemistry Clep !?!?
Posted by: C041348 - 01-02-2008, 11:59 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (5)

I am looking to take the Chemistry CLEP and was wondering if anyone who has taking it has any feedback for me as I am looking to prepare and nail this thing soon... It is a bummer that IC dosn't cover this subject, but I was hoping someone out there has experience with this test and any feedback would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks in Advanced!

  CSU-Pueblo Mgmt311 question
Posted by: hunter2115 - 01-02-2008, 09:04 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

I'm just starting on this course and from the syllabus, I cannot determine whether or not the assigned homework problems need to be submitted to the professor or not. I understand that the AE's and examinations are submitted and graded. Can anyone who has taken the course tell me if the homework practice problems need to be submitted as well? I do see that they are not graded.

Cherry picking of grades at Excelsior
Posted by: ImustStudy - 01-02-2008, 08:26 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (1)

OK everyone, I officially did it. I submitted my request to remove all non-essential C grades from my Excelsior transcript. The deadline was Dec 31st.

This leaves me deficient now by 25 units of lower level, any area credits. This is where my good friend uncle same comes in to save the day. I plan to use as many FEMA courses (I have 7 so far) to boost my units and DANTES to boost my GPA. Does anyone know if the FEMA courses, which are awarded only "P" grades are averaged in to calculate GPA at Excelsior?

I also noticed a problem, they change the requirements of my program while I was awaiting my AS degree, and now I have additional requirements for my BS. Has this happened to anyone out there?

Appreciate your help.Cool
