First CLEP tomorrow - ridin8ude - 12-23-2006

What a day! Christmas came early...

I passed both my tests easily, plus Excelsior wrote to me to confirm that an old College Algebra credit I had from Uni long ago, will count towards my business degree (so glad to not need to take algebra again!)

My thoughts on the tests:
Sociology (72): Exam was as easy or easier than I expected. My fastest exam to date, took me only 25 minutes. Cliff's Quick Review book had all I needed and one night of quickly going through all IC questions was more than enough. Standout areas for me were Durkheim, Weber, Marx. Alot of overlap with Psychology and Principles of Management and lotsa common sense.

Analyzing and Interpreting Literature (68): I didn't study at all. Got a bit paranoid at the last minute about not knowing my technical poetry terminology. Luckily no questions about meter, foot, etc were on my exam.
I might have been lucky but had very little poetry. I was able to finish in about 50 minutes even with some time to review. I expected to use the full 90 minutes! If you have a good breadth of reading knowledge and are comfortable with reading any literature, this exam should be a piece of cake.
Few key terms on my test were personification, alliteration (few times), and recognizing metaphor's/simile's.

Comment on my strategy:
I'm trying to take 2 CLEPs a week. This week I had planned to take Accounting and Business Law. But I was in a workshop at work, and couldn't find any time to study. Rather than lose a week, I decided to take 2 easy CLEP's that needed minimal study, would apply to my degree, but weren't disasters if I failed.

I now feel really good with 9 more credits in the bank, and can focus on my accounting exam for next week!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
