Yikes.. I am traveling with the family right now and internet has been spotty at best. I missed a lot in this thread! Jennifer - sorry I was so slow to respond Smile

To answer your question about med term, we're really not doing anything special at all. He's just memorizing the terms by writing them down and re-writing. He's really interested in medical terminology and for some reason really excited about this class. If you think of anything better, or if you're able to match the assignments in Med Term to the book, will you let me know?

His text arrived today! He'll be submitting the remaining Dev Writing this week- so I think he is about another week out before jumping in. I'll keep you posted as well.

P.S. also buying a tin foil hat, I too had an email Smile

sorry to change the topic.. I hope your son has a better expereince with SL the rest of his course..

Bunbu Wrote:I guess that's the way they make their money. I was told and retold that I can't unsubscribe while there are grades or submissions pending. So your score should be at least 75% AND you should have completed every graded assignment and taken every test before you hit the unsubscribe page. However, I'm pretty sure they make exceptions all the time....

I submitted all my assignments and tests. Just waiting for a couple assignments to be graded. I have not heard back from SL, I asked if they are willing to make exceptions due to the fact I completed all my assignments and test on time. I really dont want to pay another $99, what would you do?:willynilly:

I'd pay the $99. You're stuck, the alternative means that the $99 you did pay is flushed because you wouldn't get the credit. Sad

:iagree: And I'd look for something else that I may take from them that fits my degree that way it's not a complete waste.

Exactly. If you pay the next $99 you might as well try and rock out another class. Does anyone know which classes DO NOT use text books? Waiting/paying for a text book would only be my second choice, there might be a few that you could just open up and run with.

UPDATE: I received an email from Vanessa less than one hour ago in response to an email that I had sent her earlier today. Apparently she has very recently left Straighterline to pursue other opportunities. Her email indicates that she has forwarded my information to another course adviser for follow-up.

Oh man... yet another person leaving? I hate to say this because I really liked SL, but it must be a crappy place to work. Yikes.. hopefully it's just coincidence. Who knows? Maybe they're just growing too fast and the staff can't keep up and everyone's overworked.
