Thomas Edison or Charter Oak w/ ONLY Straighterline and FEMA Credits? Is it possible - burbuja0512 - 01-23-2012 rebel100 Wrote:Should be ditto for COSC, they accept them directly now. Yes the only thing to keep in mind is that FEMA's are considered elective, NON-liberal arts credits. So, if you're running short of liberal arts credits, you would need to keep this in mind. I would imagine that it would be unlikely scenario, but you never know.. Thomas Edison or Charter Oak w/ ONLY Straighterline and FEMA Credits? I'm interested in this degree, however TESC doesn't have a detailed degree plan. Can all the "area of study" credits be filled with FEMA courses? Thomas Edison or Charter Oak w/ ONLY Straighterline and FEMA Credits? Is it possible - sanantone - 02-07-2012 I'm not sure if there is a limit to the number of FEMA credits that can be used for the area of study, but you can use criminal justice and science courses from Straighterline to fill the rest if there is a limit. Maybe another member knows if there's a limit. I only used 5. Thomas Edison or Charter Oak w/ ONLY Straighterline and FEMA Credits? Is it possible - dcan - 02-21-2012 The 2011-2012 catalog upped it to 32 FEMAs accepted (page 202). I believe the PDF has the updated list. Some were added and some were dropped. Most people use them for free electives only but they should be acceptable for area of study for the AAS degree. But be sure you double-check with an advisor since not all FEMAs are accepted for credit. Won't waste money but you could waste time. Thanks for your initial reply. I have since formally applied to TESC and I have just received the acceptance notification through email. How can see how far I am from completing a degree? Would I need to wait until my credits are evaluated? Thank you for assistance. It is greatly appreciated. Thomas Edison or Charter Oak w/ ONLY Straighterline and FEMA Credits? I can't recall if you have to be enrolled or not, but its the online student services site: Thomas Edison State College: Web Registration, Grades & Academic Evaluation Thomas Edison or Charter Oak w/ ONLY Straighterline and FEMA Credits? Is it possible - cookderosa - 02-28-2012 I just want to throw this out there- SL is easy, certainly the easiest home based credits. DSST/CLEP, however, is MUCH CHEAPER. For instance, to earn 3 history credits through SL can cost $39 per course and $99 per month or about $140 give or take plus text book. Any CLEP/DSST exam is running $80 for 3 and sometimes 6 credits (fees may apply at your testing center). If you are taking just 1 class, it's not a big deal, but if you do the "first year of college" option for $999 (30 credits), that same money buys you 13 CLEP/DSST exams yielding 39 - 78 credits depending on your exams (and if you add in foreign language you're well into >100). I know testing centers over seas are not always easy to come by, but it's worth a look. good luck! Thomas Edison or Charter Oak w/ ONLY Straighterline and FEMA Credits?
