Classes at TESU - adavis84 - 04-18-2016 Big +1 on the mentor making all the difference. Another tip is to check out the syllabus for the course ahead of time (TESU makes them available on the course description page). It will give you the number of assignments, grading structure, and textbooks required. That was a huge help in deciding to take courses there for me. I'm the type that doesn't flinch at 100 math problems for homework but starts sobbing at the very thought of even a short reaction paper. Knowing in advance what the assignments will be really helped inform my decisions. ETA: Another +1 for the OL section over GS. I had a course that I signed up for as OL but needed to drop the first week. I took it again the next semester as GS and the discussion post topics from the OL section had just been added to the weekly written assignments as an additional paper. As far as I'm concerned, that just made the GS harder since the answer now needed to be of a certain length and cited/formatted as a paper rather than a quick-and-dirty discussion post. I am in the field of Quality Management for manufacturing operations and have been doing it for 20+ years. I would love to consider that one if it's not too time consuming. Also, what's a length of an actual class? 4 weeks? With your background, you'll fly through TQM easily but I don't think you'll learn more than you already know. They are full semesters - mine was Apr-Jun of last year. But with knowing the assignments all at the beginning, I was done with submitting the work by the end of May or the first couple of days of June. But the semester and final grade don't come any sooner than the scheduled end date just because the work was done sooner - it's not competency based. TQM has a final PowerPoint project I went all out on since I had the time. Instead of just setting up the slides, I imagineered the company first and then tailored my presentation and training to the denizens of that firm. It was a blast. The reason I'm doing an MBA right now is because Dr. Tony, the prof for that course, suggested I should go on to it. I really wasn't looking to add more school or work to my crazy schedule but he got me thinking and then was nice enough to answer my questions as I considered it. I was going to take the Strategic Management course instead of the TECEP because I love the topic but when I looked at the syllabus and saw the amount of work, I knew I couldn't do it with working full time and doing the mom/wife/adult child of aging parents thing. Studied for 2 weeks and did the TECEP instead. |
