RE: How many courses can I enrol at max. per term at TESU? - rachel83az - 12-12-2021 If you need a US Bachelors degree (or even just US university credits), UMPI's YourPace program would be a MUCH cheaper way to do that than TESU. It's $1400 per 2-month session at UMPI where you are allowed to take as many courses as you can finish. For the same price as a single flat-rate term at TESU, you can get about 3 sessions at UMPI. Based on past student experiences, you should be able to get at least 30 credits this way; maybe more. RE: How many courses can I enrol at max. per term at TESU? - LevelUP - 12-12-2021 Many people report they can do 7 courses or more in a UMPI session. That would be just $200 per course vs over $900 for TESU. TEL learning isn't guaranteed that they will accept the credit transfer into an American university. Some have reported since you took the course at TEL learning and not the college, they won't accept the credit transfer. TEL learning is more a workaround for TESU and COSC RA requirements. I've had someone actually was able to complete 18 credits as they showed evidence in college they were able to successfully maintain such as course load with flying colors. You need to ask to get anything over 16 credits, it may/may not be approved by the academic advising team or the registrar team... Link: https://www.tesu.edu/tuition/ug-tuition-comparison I think this page from the TESU catalog is more clear on the maximum course load than the tuition comparison page: https://tesu.smartcatalogiq.com/Current/Undergraduate-Catalog/University-Policies-and-Procedures/Undergraduate-Course-Policies/Course-Load Quote:Students are permitted to register for up to 16 credits at any one time. Overlapping more than 16 credits is not permitted including when a course is (or courses are) extended. Being registered for more than 16 concurrent credits at a time requires permission from an academic advisor. Some of TEL's schools list the courses as "transfer credits", meaning you'll never get them to be accepted anywhere else. Others will not provide a non-TEL syllabus. A syllabus isn't always needed, but may be requested in some instances when transferring from one school to another. This is not something you have to worry about with UMPI courses. Maybe I should just use the catalog instead.... personal preference I guess. In the future I may just do a double link, as I like linking sites as well... who knows, whatever floats my boat... rachel83az Wrote:user2137 Wrote:LevelUP Wrote:Many people report they can do 7 courses or more in a UMPI session. Yeah, post #4 of mine referenced community college such as NMJC, ONU (Olivet) which is a university, and UEXCELS which are graded credits. If you're looking for graded credits, it's better to have it come from a college, institute, or university directly, even if they are graded exams. I didn't mention TEL or Portage, etc in that regard. It's usually personal preference as well... if TEL suits you, go for it. RE: How many courses can I enrol at max. per term at TESU? - user2137 - 12-13-2021 Quote:Hi [Prospective Student], Okay, so I got the email reply from TESU, which does state that I can do more than 16 credits per term, *if* I can handle the course load. I'm interested in that because most of my 8 planned courses I already did at my first year at my home university years ago; they are elementary in Economics, Maths, and Statistics, and I'd be repeating them for a US university credit. But also, the Outlier, TEL, NJMC options are about equal in value. RE: How many courses can I enrol at max. per term at TESU? - rachel83az - 12-13-2021 IIRC, you can ONLY take more than 16 credits at once if you've previously taken 15 or 16 credits AND got good grades. They may make occasional exceptions for students, but I would not count on being allowed to take more than 15 credits per term. RE: How many courses can I enrol at max. per term at TESU? - bjcheung77 - 12-13-2021 LOL if I am reading that email correctly, technically, that email just says "16 credits" until you get approved to take more... Seriously though, you need to just shoot off an email to them with an example of you doing "18 credits or whatever" and asking, please approve me to take "XX credits". You should call them, as they even mentioned, you should get "approval" from an advisor you call... If they say, approved! You're golden! |
