Well I only need (2) units to finish up my TESC Liberal Studies degree, and they are in English Comp II.

I figure I can either take Eng Comp II w/StraighterLine, or English Clep W/Essay, and wash the credit thru Fort Hayes State University.

I am not sure if they have approved it yet, so I will wait and see.

I need the English CompII, for my TESC Liberal Studies Degree, and I am concerned how the StraighterLine Courses will look on the transcripts.

Hi
I spoke with an advisor at TESC because I was thinking of getting a BA in Homeland Security, and she told me to just take the CLEPs English Comp w/ Essay or the Freshman Comp w/ Essay and if I passed, I would get credit for English I and II.
Has anyone tried this instead of having to take the Straighterline English II or a class? Can anyone who has taken these CLEPs confirm this?

Just trying to get some verification. Is there anyone on here who has taken Straighterline's English Composition I course and have had it successfully transferred to Excelsior College? I'm just trying to confirm whether this course will satisfy Excelsior's WER requirement.

I spoke with Jennifer at Straighterline and she stated that the ENGLISH COMPOSITION II course is up and running! I think she said it will probably take about a week for it to be updated on the Straighterline website. The only con is that it still needs to go through the approval process at the partner colleges. She said she doesn't know when that will be, although she is fairly certain that Fort Hays will approve it for credit.

Jennifer can be reached at 202-543-5034 extension 620. Her email address is jdhart@straighterline.com.

Also...does anybody know for certain whether or not Fort Hays is on the semester hour system or the quarter hour system?

Thanks for your time guys.

Hi Marshall

Did you get conformation on whether EC accepts Straighterline's English Comp?

I took Eng Comp at Straighterline and it was transferred to EC with no problem; it satisfied the WER.

How was the Eng Comp at Straighterline ? How long did you take to complete it? Did you buy the suggested Texts ?

I have taken English I and Algebra 1 from straighterline and partnered with Fort Hays and then transferred those credits through Fort Hays to my local cc. However, I was told in no uncertain terms by Fort Hays that they had no plans to approve English II from straighterline in the immediate or future. In fact upon checking with all partner colleges only Potomac would accept the English II but you had to take three of their courses at a cost of $1350 for each three hour course before they would issue credit for straighterline. Has anyone here recently had a different experience with straighterline?

Hi Tim,

The comp at SL is mostly essay writing. I used the online free version of the text from McGraw Hill. It took about a week to complete at full speed. There are a number of essays to write and submit to SmartThinking tutors.

Where did you get the online version? Do you have a link?

Thanks,
