I'm excited that Pierpont discussions have a home now! Thank you to whomever created this!

One question. PP? What is this supposed to stand for?

I was wondering that myself. PierPont? Because if that's it, I think it's odd.  I don't think I've seen it referred to it as that anywhere on here, so it's more confusing than helpful.

Hmm... If you look at the specific college discussion area, each subforum has the initials of the institution, the only oddball missing that is Excelsior, maybe we should add EU in front of that so everything is uniform...

That would have been my guess, but it doesn't make any sense. Pierpont is a name, not a compound word, and certainly not two words. It's like using the acronym ES for Excelsior. If we want to use a sensible acronym, I think that "PCTC" makes the most sense for Pierpont Community & Technical College.

Or maybe just no acronym at all?

Agreed - PP is just odd.  I'd go with no acronym at all, since it's as easy to write Pierpont as it is to write PCTC and try to remember what that acronym is all the time.  Just go with Pierpont and leave off the wacky "PP."

I think the title would look good either way:
  • PCTC - Pierpont and Other Associates Degrees
  • Pierpont and Other Associates Degrees
Technically, "other" is an adjective and should be capitalized in the title.

And ya to make things uniform it would be:
  • EU - Excelsior University Discussion
Whatever happens, I'm cool with it.

I think PCTC, although accurate will confuse many people (as it is talked about as a CC, but that is not only part of its story), so I vote drop the abbreviation and go with 'Pierpont and Other Associates Degrees'.  As far as the PP, I think I've seen it used once (probably in this thread!). Although, I'm still trying to figure out how Study.com turned into SDC... However, I don't believe PP will stick (in usage) the same way...and the memes if it does  Exclamation  (bad)

I like the idea of the EU being put in front of the 'Excelsior University Discussion' (as it common to abbreviate it as EU - at least since Aug'22 Smile  )

That would be silly. Everyone knows ES stands for EdiSon.

Classic! I stand corrected. And with my own alma mater, no less.  Big Grin

RE: Pierpont - bjcheung77 - 07-25-2023

Which member/moderator sent out the initial request may want to send another to update the EU and PP details as listed so we don't spam the admin/webmaster. For me, it really doesn't matter as long as there is an area for Pierpont, I was thinking it would be similar to the Doctorate subforum under the Graduate forum... I guess the popularity of it gave way to having it's own forum instead. While we're at it, are there any other changes you like to see? Might as well send it all in one swoop...
