I have sent my transcript and can update once I have a new evaluation. RE: Sophia - Managerial Accounting and Lifespan - bjcheung77 - 01-28-2024 Technically, these courses should come in the same way as other ACE recommended for credit classes with the very similar content or course name. For example, both StraighterLine and Study.com offer Managerial Accounting and Lifespan Development, it really depends on the receiving institution, they usually follow whatever ACE recommends (with a few exceptions though)... Awesome, thanks for the info. RE: Sophia - Managerial Accounting and Lifespan - jg_nuy - 01-30-2024 Sophia Managerial Accounting was accepted for my son as ACC-1020 (Managerial Accounting) at TESU. RE: Sophia - Managerial Accounting and Lifespan - NextDestFBI - 01-31-2024 UMPI would not accept this transfer credit. I tried escalating but I did not receive a response. I got my evaluation today and just like the other poster, it came in as ACC-1020 as expected. RE: Sophia - Managerial Accounting and Lifespan - vaticidalprophet - 02-10-2024 I've just completed Lifespan Development, which I'm hoping will transfer to TESU as PSY-211 Developmental Psychology. (Still finishing my US Government touchstones, so not transferring yet.) The course has a lot of significant errors at present. It feels like a first draft. I was making multiple question reports on every milestone. Psychology is a tricky field, and I'm inclined to brush away some level of errors as "well, that's wrong, but it's not more wrong than I'd expect an LL undergrad course to be"...but this was much more wrong than I'd expect an LL undergrad course to be. There were really basic problems throughout just about everything I had significant preknowledge of, starting very early in the course -- one howler in the first unit was "the X and Y chromosomes are named that because they look like an X or a Y". Some question answers were outright wrong, such that I lost points by giving the objective right answer (not subjective ones, things like "what age does X happen" when 100% of evidence says a particular age range, and that age range is on the quiz, and you get marked wrong for it). Consistently throughout the course, there were statistics being presented straightforwardly based on a single study when their findings were extreme -- this is terrible practice in psychology, because a lot of these findings haven't replicated in larger samples or meta-analyses. That said, I'm happy the course exists. I got a 98%, in spite of being marked wrong for a correct answer, and it (hopefully) let me make progress towards a core class for my degree. It's great to see Sophia expanding to classes like this. But even by the fairly low standards of a dev psych undergrad class (there's a ton of dispute in this field and surrounding fields, which is hard to fuse into a coherent introductory class), there are too many mistakes here to overlook. Given the comments in this thread about mistakes in Managerial Accounting, the combination is a little concerning. I don't have the experience to know whether this is normal for new Sophia courses and they fix them in post, or if it's a decline. I really appreciate the work done here and the expansion into more complex courses, but it's looking like it might be a learning curve. Interesting aside: the milestone time limits were much shorter than usual (35 for most, 60 for the final milestone and one particularly long midterm). They had the normal number of questions, ranging from 14 to 27 (the one with extra time), and 30 on the final. I work fast, so this didn't concern me, but it might be a problem for people who take their time on tests or have extra-time accommodations. RE: Sophia - Managerial Accounting and Lifespan - LevelUP - 02-16-2024 I was curious what Lifespan Development transfers as and if it will meet the social science GE requirement. Also, maybe Business Ethics will meet the social science requirement as well? Frustratingly, it turned out to be PSY-1999, and appeal was rejected. So...don't do Lifespan Development. |
