Are those courses doctoral level or did they accept masters level?

After a bit of soul searching, I went ahead and applied to this program. My acceptance email came in about one week.

I can provide some brief updates

First, cohorts are officially between 10 and 25 per year. Fall start only. Very much a law enforcement heavy program, I am one of only two in my cohort that is not involved in law enforcement or corrections. So far it seems the faculty are mostly working command level police officers with doctorate degrees.

Classes are 7-8 week quarters, not full semesters.
First term everyone takes just one class, next term everyone takes two... do not know yet about next spring.

I submitted all transcripts, including some doctoral level work from an advanced certificate, but did not receive any transfer credit. From time of application to getting my acceptance email was a week or ten days.

The first class is meant as an introduction to the program and the work is not hard... just time consuming. The program uses APA formatting.

One minor but very annoying thing is the large amount of mass audience emails I get to my student account. The college does not separate online versus on campus students with regard to mass emails. Nor do they separate undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students with regard to emails. And nor do any of the student groups or Greek organizations...

So every day as an online doctoral student I am getting emails for arts and crafts at the library, student senator messages, first year student ice cream socials with administration, intermural sports notices, and parking lot issues, and on and on ... the last time I dealt with this amount of junk in my inbox was 20 years ago at a community college during my associates.

No other school I have attended has been this unorganized with regard to sending every single student every single email that applies to "students".

I've sent emails to both the administration and my advisor asking if new email lists could be created to prevent online students, or at least grad students, or at least doctoral students from getting all this crap... but so far nothing has changed.

I'll post more as I continue through the program.

First quarter is complete.

Weekly reading consisted primarily of pages from research papers and PDFs from different journals. About 20 pages a week total. This would be followed by a weekly discussion board post related to the readings. These were 2-5 pages each with APA citations.

So, slightly time consuming, but not difficult by any means.

Hi mate,

I’d love to connect with you to discuss the Doctor of Science in Public Safety program in more detail. I’ve been considering this doctoral program for a while now and would really value hearing your personal perspective on the experience.

I’m based in Australia, so it would be great if we could arrange a quick chat sometime soon, whether over Zoom, Teams, or WhatsApp, whatever suits you best.

Cheers.
