It would be nice if the government told us what's true so we ignorant people wouldn't make the mistake of coming up with other things we believe to be true. It could be labelled "Project 1984." The First Amendment is so messy and inconvenient. This forum is starting to sound like InfoWars which, by the way, discussed 5 months ago how assassinating Trump would be beneficial to them because they'll get a better candidate. This country is losing it. You're saying that prioritizing states' rights over Black people's right to not be enslaved is not bigotry? I think you're in the minority in the year of 2024. Conspiracy theories are not political talk. Maybe I should make a separate thread on the cognitive scores of people who tend to believe a bunch of conspiracy theories. This country is losing it. In my opinion, if you think that it's not bigotry to defend states' "rights" to deny freedom and the right to vote to people of Sub-Saharan African descent, that should be disqualifying. This country is losing it. You are right that conspiracy theories tend to get out of control. Some conspiracy theories are vague, may contain an ounce of truth that promoters use to justify their validity, and are hard to research and fact-check. Some are just outright crazy, such as the ones from July 13th, for example. Some say it was staged. Some were posting photos or making claims about who the shooter was. Andrew Tate called it a "coup" in a tweet and pretty much said the government found this person, then instructed that person to kill Trump, which got 10 million+ views. This is an irresponsible thing to say, at the very least. Elon Musk pointed out in a Twitter talk that when someone used the term "globalist," it was vague and didn't have much meaning. These types of ambiguous terms can lead to problems. RE: OUTRAGE! - Attempt on President Trump's Life - LevelUP - 07-15-2024 Here's an extended video of people trying to inform the police/Secret Service that a man with a gun is on the roof. (1 minute and 10 seconds after this video, the president was shot, and one person was killed.) https://x.com/AdnanClassified/status/1812673073919021554 Watch this split-screen video of the moments leading up to the attack. Secret Service had 2 FULL MINUTES. https://x.com/ElonChapo/status/1813128630559551509 I agree that the head of the Secret Service needs to be fired, as it looks like the people on the ground lacked resources and were put in a position to fail. Some Common Questions I'm Hearing:
There is reckless political rhetoric on both sides. However, the right's argument would be, "Who's in the hospital?" Who is on the receiving end of almost all the political violence? As I have heard, Trump is rewriting his RNC speech to tone down the political rhetoric and unite the country. Hopefully the rest of this election cycle will be a more normal one. Democratic State Senator Clementa Pinckney was assassinated and eight others were killed by a neo-Nazi in the Charleston church shooting. Democratic U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords was targeted for assassination and severely disabled and six others were killed by an extremist in the Tucson shooting. Liberal activist Heather Heyer was killed and thirty-five others were injured by a neo-Nazi in the Charlottesville car-ramming. Twenty-three people were killed by a neo-Nazi in the El Paso Walmart shooting. Eleven people were killed by a neo-Nazi in the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting. Ten people were killed by a neo-Nazi in the Buffalo supermarket shooting. Officer Brian Sicknick died possibly attendant of and many others were injured by right-wing rioters on January 6. Not violent attacks, but AOC has been approached in an aggressive manner by people on the left. Bernie Sanders, while running for president, had people run up to him and take his mic away while he was speaking to a crowd. Things have gotten out of control. RE: OUTRAGE! - Attempt on President Trump's Life - davewill - 07-15-2024 The list of modern Presidents and candidates that have been targeted is long: Teddy Roosevelt was shot at. FDR, shot at Truman had an attempt stopped which killed a White House policeman and one of the assassins. JFK, killed RFK, killed George Wallace, shot Ford, shot at twice Reagan, shot. Bush Sr, foiled car bomb attack in Kuwait Bush Jr had a grenade thrown at him overseas Barack Obama was targeted by a gunman shooting at the White House. Trump, shot, plus two bystanders killed. Plus, attempted letter bombs, and attempts to send Ricin. Then the mentioned shootings above of non-Presidential figures. It may well be that the Secret Service fell down on the job here, but I also think it's fantastically difficult to secure a candidate at public events. Especially from a lone assassin who doesn't care about escape. It sounds like a failed argument. My argument is that Democrats, liberals, and non-White minorities are a significant numerator of the denominator targets of political violence in the United States. Your accusation that I'm cherry-picking implies that 20,000 is an appropriate numerator to the denominator 61 in a valid comparison. But you've introduced the number 20,000 with no explanation, no indication of what relation it has to the topic. You probably introduced the number 20,000 because 20,000 is the approximate number of homicides in the U.S. in one year. But that's almost entirely non-political violence. That would not be a valid comparison. |
