Wow thank you for this comparison!!! I was planning on going to WGU but just applied to Texas A&M! We'll see what happens, I live in TX so the tuition would be cheaper.

Furthermore, you're going for a local state school with online programs vs an endorsed school in the state. It will be slightly more recognized in your state anyways in addition to the cheaper tuition. I highly recommend what you're doing, Texas A&M for undergrad and then you can decide WGU for grad or something else when the time comes...

Exactly!! I live in Austin and Texas A&M is very prestigious here, it's considered the second-best school in the state after UT! I had no idea this program existed until this morning and I immediately applied.
I still plan on getting a masters most likely from WGU but this will be such a great thing for my resume in Texas to have a local highly regarded school.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with TAMU-Commerce, nothing at all. But they are not the same as TAMU-College Station. You are not an Aggie, and the part after the hyphen is important.
It’s an amazing deal for in-state students, as long as you understand Commerce and College Station are different schools under the same governing board.
Same as UT-Austin has a lot more prestige than UT-El Paso.

I imagine it’s kind of similar to Penn State. Penn State has 25 campuses. I imagine a lot of States have a similar setup. But I don’t really know.

That is correct - they even have different colors and different mascots. But, the degree is from Texas A&M and that can carry a lot of weight in the job market, especially in Texas.

Student flunked out of the University of Texas. Got admitted to Texas A&M. Raised the academic standards of both schools.
Aggie goes to Rice University campus and asks a student "Where's the library at?" Rice student responds "At Rice, we don't end sentences with prepositions." Aggie responds with "Where's the library at, jerk?"

My brother and I applied to TAMUC and had our official transcripts sent in. No communication for three weeks except two automated emails, one stating we were admitted. I called numerous times inquiring about the transcript evaluations. Most of the time I reached no one and left polite messages that were never returned. On the rare occasion, I reached someone, I was given a variety of inaccurate excuses. Eventually, I emailed the director of admissions and started getting emails from admissions officers as a result. They claimed my transcript was evaluated the same day it was received. Our evaluations were rife with errors. My brother's evaluation, containing almost identical courses, deviated significantly from mine. We have not been able to appeal or even get an explanation. Texas A&M is a very credible school but their Commerce campus is chaos. We were applying for their BAAS in Organizational Leadership because it is a CBE program. After examining the courses, TAMUC did us a favor. Their Organizational Leadership courses appear to have little utility and there are better check the box degrees.
Avoid TAMUC.
Edit: For those with Sophia credit, there are better options. They accepted less than half.
