RE: Pierpont BOG AAS Transcripts - Tedium - 07-31-2018 She must just be looking at titles instead of course descriptions. I hope you get her to come around. Speaking from experience, the systems are vastly different. RE: Pierpont BOG AAS Transcripts - Tedium - 07-31-2018 Sure, every system is different. I think the point is that it is doable and done within that school system, so Pierpont can and should do it. RE: Pierpont BOG AAS Transcripts - Life_One - 07-31-2018 Maybe the easiest thing to do will be to switch to another BOG awarding college, I talked to WVNCC today about how their transcripts are generated for their BOG students. Let's say that's it's bizarre for a college to not provide a transcript. They also told me there is a state mandate on how the credits are evaluated and they should be entered in a certain way thus providing a transcript. Again it's up to the college at hand and their interpretation of the mandate. I'm not trying to deceive anyone or make matters worse; I'm trying to figure out why a transcript can and can not be produced. I'm going to look for another BOG program and possibly apply through them if this system cannot provide one. If any of you can get a straight answer on why it can not be produced, please let me know. RE: Pierpont BOG AAS Transcripts - quigongene - 07-31-2018 WVNCC implemented a residency requirement of 15 hours at WVNCC. Pretty sure someone else did research. All but Pierpont have some sort of school residency requirement. "Residency Requirement: A minimum of 15 credit hours are required from WV Northern, students who are veterans or currently in the military may be exempted from this residency requirement. All BOG students must have a minimum of 12 credit hours from a regionally accredited higher education institution." (I really wish I had known about the veteran thing earlier, though). http://www.wvncc.edu/programs-of-study/board-of-governors-a.a.s.-degree-completion-program/494 RE: Pierpont BOG AAS Transcripts - Life_One - 07-31-2018 WVNCC didn't have residency until very recently, and even without the residency, they produced full-fledged transcripts for their students. Seems we choose the wrong college. RE: Pierpont BOG AAS Transcripts - Tedium - 07-31-2018 I mean, we made the final choice, but our options were limited due to the residency requirements. I'm not paying that amount of money for 15 LL credits for a degree I am only really getting to boost my morale while I save money for my Capstone. That's just crazy. I think while they lack a residency requirement, it is worth our time to see if we can get things changed or optimized so they work better for us. How well would this program work for someone who just needed a degree for a job? They can't show the employer a transcript, just some jancky letter basically chastising them again for something life has already punished them for. That's messed up. RE: Pierpont BOG AAS Transcripts - jeffreymb - 08-01-2018 This morning I sent the following email to Nancy: Quote: I've been following some discussion about your inability to produce a transcript when all credits are transferred. It seems quite out of the ordinary that an institution not produce a transcript for a degree they conferred. To which she replied: Quote:Many people find it great news that they can be granted a degree from an institution from which they have taken no credits at all, so the lack of a traditional transcript is something the few students this affects have been willing to accept--especially because they can submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions and get a letter from my Office explaining this unique method of degree conferral. So, it doesn't seem hopeful that they will be supplying a transcript any time soon.

Suck it up because we're doing you a favor? Uh, no. Here is Nancy's boss - in issues of student services, there is no higher ranking admin: Lyla Grandstaff Vice President of Enrollment Services Office: 248 Hardway Hall Telephone: (304) 367-4503 E-mail: Lyla.Grandstaff@pierpont.edu I'd like to suggest we start emailing Mrs Grandstaff. The issue of not getting a transcript is unacceptable. Man, I take back all the hopeful things I was saying. It's amazing how quickly this all turned sour. Everyone in this thread was talking about how amazing she and this program were, just, you know, this one little policy you have might not help the way you say you want to in your mission statement. It's nice to get a big condescending eff you in return. How dare we have constructive criticism, right? Stay classy, Nancy. |
