Have taken your advice... - Machelle - 12-23-2006 Hi All, I have taken your advice and put my application in for Excelsior! I am interested to see what they come back with. I want to go into the BS Accounting program, and I have already completed Accounting I at my local community college which UOP does not accept since it's not an upper level course (funny, it surely was intense enough to be considered upper level to me!). I figure that I will stay enrolled at UOP until I hear back from them, and meanwhile complete another 3 credits there (Business Law). It couldn't hurt, since it is covered by financial aid. I wish I knew more about how financial aid works and being the fact that I would still be enrolled in college, if my student loans would still be in deferrment until I graduated. Also, since financial aid does not cover Excelsior, what happens with the money they have already paid out for the year? I guess Excelsior could perhaps answer that for me. Not only will they accept all of your prior credits earned, you'll have the opportunity to complete your degree much more quickly. Have you been to the bain4weeks website? If not, you might want to check it out, as it provides lots of advice on how to test out for a degree. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a pm. Have taken your advice... - Machelle - 12-24-2006 Thanks so much! I am sure I will have lots of questions, so thank you for the offer! I have briefly taken a look at the bain4weeks website, but I will have a closer look at it. I guess I thought that going for a degree through a well-known college like UOP would be the best route to go, but the bottom line is that Excelsior is accredited. I will save a lot of time and money going through Excelsior, and there is so much information here to help as well. This year I have to pay something like $8000.00 out of my own pocket to continue taking classes back-to-back. I am thinking that money would be better spent going to Excelsior, and it certainly won't cost me $8000.00.
