Advice on what order I should take the CLEP/DSST - Old Rusty Pipe - 01-04-2007

I am attempting to max out the number of credits that Saint Leo University will take. This is coincidentally the exact number of classes I can test out of that I still need. I am tring to figure out the best order to take these in, or if not a specific order than which tests I should group together.

I've already taken Principles of Management, Human Resources Management, and Organizational Behavior. I found that there was a lot of overlap between these three tests.

I passed the Principles of Statistics yesterday and was wondering what I should focus on next.

The tests I still need to take are:
-Management Information Systems
-Principles of Finance
-Principles of Accounting
-Principles of Marketing
-Introduction to Business Law
-Macroeconomics
-Microeconomics
-American Literature

Any ideas or suggestions?

Marketing is definitely the easiest out of the ones you listed, so maybe take that first.

Macroeconomics and Microeconomics, in that order.

Management Information Systems is probably a good next bet, unless you're completely computer illiterate.

I would then do Business Law next.

And finally, Accounting, and then finish off with Prin of Finance, which I believe will benefit from what you learn in Accting.

Marketing and MIS you could study a few days for and pass, the rest will take more time investment, so plan accordingly.

Good luck!

The only CLEP I've taken was the Am. Literature. It was a snap for me but I used The Complete's Idiot's Guide to Am. Lit. as a study guide and I'm pretty familiar w/ the content anyway. I found the Idiot's Guide readable and very helpful. I highly recommend it.
I'm taking the Princ. of Stats. next and am terrified. If I study the questions on this website, flashcards, etc., will I get it? Or do I need to think about tutors and book work?
Thanks for your input.

I just passed the Principles of Statistics test on the 3rd of January. See this thread for details of resources:

Thanks, ORP. Having taken only one CLEP and no DSSTs, I may be a little confused. Are the questions on this site the very same as on the DSST tests? i.e., if I can pass the test here, can I pass it there? I am very literature/writing liberal arts; not at all science and math and I'm scared about this. I've been running the InstantCert questions as flashcards. If I know them by rote, will I be able to get the exam alright?
And by way of thanks, do you need any help with the Am. Literature test?

No, we don't try to hand you a copy of the test. We just try to teach you the fundamental knowledge you need to go in and make educated choices.

If you want sample exams, you should supplement with Petersons sample tests and the official CLEP and Dantes sample tests, when available.

Also, make sure you use the search feature. There's a lot of past feedback for statistics.

Good luck!

I had my advisor send back my transcript from my old community college for a re-evaluation. I just got it back today and they had missed something like 16 credits. Sadly very few of these apply to my degree. Happily 6 credits did. Now I need to take two less tests and am trying to figure out which ones. Financing I'm just going to take a class for. Any ideas on which other one I should take?

As for American Literature, I'm still trying to figure out if I could learn enough to pass within a 2 or so weeks.

Decisions, decision...

If you get to remove two from the list, it's a no-brainer: finance and accting

Finance I can toss, alas not so with Accounting. My revised transcript frees up 6 credits. I forgot to mention that. I still need to take Accounting, otherwise I can only skip out of one test rather than two. I'm trying to figure out which one aside from Finance. Thanks for the feedback.

Maybe drop MicroEcon then, since it's supposed to be harder than Macro.

Of if Econ interests you, drop Business Law.
