Hi,

A while back, I got some advice to take "Buddy tests" to save time on studying. Is there a buddy to Humanities? I looked through the list on IC and wasn't sure.

If you have other advice about tests that are good to pair together, even if it's not for humanities, let me know.

Thanks so much!

I would imagine English Literature or maybe even history could be paired up with Humanites, but that's just a guess. I do know, however, that Micro and Macro Economics go very well together.

Some potential "buddy" tests might be unwise, however. Like trying to take all your Math tests at the same time. One could get very burnt out on it that way. :willynilly:

Hi burbuja,

I'm in the same boat as you, and need Humanities credits, which I'm sitting at the end of this month.

Along with the Humanities CLEP, the DSST 'Art of the Western World' is definitely getting 'buddied'. Additionally, the DSST 'Intro to World Religions', too. Just because Smile

I am thinking about including English Literature CLEP. This is on the basis that less than 30% of the test is rote recall/identification of authors/works/references and the rest is in line with close reading and technical elements, only a littler deeper than the A&I Literature CLEP.

We'll see. Let me know how you get on and if you can put together any other good configuration to make life easier.

I have not taken A&I lit yet but I hear it is an easy six humanities credits.

Thanks for the ideas. I am trying to do a few different relatively easy CLEPS over the next few months because I just got a new job that requires quite a bit of training and a substantial ramp-up time. I don't want to stop studying, so the buddy idea may work... but I'm not sure if any of these are quite close enough.

I was going through IC flashcards and I think that the information systems might be stuff that I already know... so it's not related to Humanities, but that might be the next test. But then I need to figure out what's after that...

Thanks!

If you go to the College Board website, they will do a % breakdown of subjects. I think you can look for tests in the same group and you will notice some overlap.

For humanities, you'll get overlap with the Art of the Western World for sure. There are other tests with a lot of overlap, but those are generally in the social sciences rather than humanities.

Good luck to you!!

I was able to group my history, science, and computing exams. It really is a helpful way to study.

Here is a thread that should give you some ideas:

If you know a little about computers, the IS&CA test is pretty straight-forward. After sitting A&I Lit and Intro to Sociology I still had the afternoon available, so ended up sitting it cold to make the flights worthwhile.

Consequently, the Intro to Sociology and Intro to Psychology tests are also worth doing and a lot of people recommend them here as first tests with A&I Lit.

Good luck Smile

I failed humanities (before I found out about instantcert and used speedyprep, Rolleyes which I do not reccomend) so I used Technical Writing, World Religions, and A&I for my 12 humanities credits at TESC.

Principals of Management, Principals of Marketing, Organizational Behavior and Intro to Business all run the same trail. I took them in succession and found the studying time for each sequential test was reduced.
