Excelsior - fast testing - kckusek - 01-08-2007

Hello everyone,

I'm new here (found this site yesterday) and was wondering about some advice.
I'm trying to get my Bachelors with Excelsior college, and I try to get it fast. My current schedule is 5 exames per week (after work) for two months, and I should be there.
Has anybody tested so quickly?
Can you share your experience?
What is the most efficient way to get all the preparation done in time  (other then InstantCert, which was already a HUGE help yesterday.)

Thanks for your help, :o

Kat

Hello Kat -

Welcome to the IC-Forums!

Your degree goals are quite ambitious and lofty; perhaps you should start off at a slower pace - like 1 exam per week (or 2-3 weeks) before you jump into the deep end and drown.

I don't know of anyone personally who has mastered the ability to accomplish an entire degree program that quickly - perhaps you will be the first? Good Luck!!

Hi ShotoJuku,

maybe I should explain why I'm trying to get my Bachelors that fast.
In January 06 I started my Masters program with UOP. I visited classes and earned my credits till November 06. That is when they came back and told me, that they never looked at my transcripts from Germany and that my education is not equal to an American Bachelor and therefore, I could not continue with my Masters  .
I found Excelsior, so I can get my Bachelors quickly and till March, non of the courses I will miss in my Masters program are prerequisites, which means, if I can get my Bachelors within two/three months, I will be able to simply continue in March with my masters and graduate as planned in January 2008.

I do admit, I feel quite stressed about it, but I also feel that it's worth a try, and if it doens't work out, I can slow down (after March 2007). The idea with the speedy Bachelors came up when I read through Online degrees by distance learning. BA in 4 Weeks and bain4weeks.com - online BA degrees and online graduate degees by examination..
I will keep you posted on my progress Wink .

I recently finished all of the tests I needed to get my degree in psychology at Excelsior. I got all but eight of the credits through testing out via CLEP, DSST and ECE. When I first started, I wanted to go as fast as possible, and found that for me anyway, InstantCert was what allowed me to do that. It allows one to study the body of knowledge on the test, as opposed to looking through a book and trying to figure out which parts of it need to be studied. Another thing to consider is that the BAin4weeks website makes it clear that the amount of time needed to study is related to how much you already know of the material. There were many subjects I breezed through because the InstantCert material just functioned as a refresher course. If you're starting from zero on the material, it may take you a bit longer.....unless of course, you're like some people I've known who can inhale and retain new information with a minimum of effort!

Hi TCC,

thanks for your feedback and congrats on your Degree.
How long did you take to get all the exams done?
I belive I have quite some knowledge in some of the topics. The two biggest problems are: it's 10 years ago that I studies all of this, and english is my second language.
Today, I will write Principals of Supervision which should be easy, because I work as a Manager and found the Instantcert information not very hard.

Thanks,
Kat

Kat,

In actual working time, it took me just under a year to study and test. However, I ended up taking time off, so overall from the time I began the process, it was almost two years to complete the degree. If Principles of Supervision is easy for you, other tests that cover similar areas that I found easy are: DSST Intro to Business, CLEP Principles of Management, and CLEP Principles of Marketing. Good luck!
