I Passed!!! - lucab617 - 01-16-2007 I just got back from the DSST Criminal Justice exam and I got a 59! 49 was passing. Let me tell you, I thought the exam was really difficult. I don't think I would of passed it if I just studied IC alone. You definitely need another source to study from, at least thats what I think. I think there were about 10 questions I answered that were related to the IC material. The rest was from Cliff Notes on Criminal Justice. Definitely get this! Make sure you know alot about the juvenile system, court systems, jurisdictions, crime rates past 20 years, women in the police force, community rehabilitation, juvenile delinquency. These are some of the questions: How have crime rates been in the past 20 years? What is true about women in the workforce in the past decade? Answer: I choose their rate has dropped dramatically. -- something along the lines of this. There are alot of questions that regard, what is true of the following topic, EXCEPT? What is the US Justice System based on? a)Code of Hammurabis b)Justinian c) Something irrelevant d)English Law --> this is what I choose, might be wrong, but I am pretty sure its correct Definitely make sure what Part I crimes are? Make sure you know what UCR does/doesn't include in reports. Make sure you know the court systems, limited, general, appelate, trial. This is all I can remember right now. Thank you everyone for all the help you have given me. I Passed!!! - Lifetime Student - 01-16-2007 lucab617 Wrote:I just got back from the DSST Criminal Justice exam and I got a 59! 49 was passing. My experience certainly aided me in the exam, but I did supplement IC with a borrowed text on Criminal Justice as a refresher. I really have no corrections experience, so I used the text to sharpen up on some points. I am pretty sure you got the Question about the basis of U.S. law correct. A word of advice to all- never go into a test "cold". Even by looking at IC the night before, you will pick up a couple of points. Go to the exam confident, but not cocky and you will do well. Well, off I go back to the IC Environment and Humanity questions for my FINAL DSST this Saturday.Till next time, Mike I Passed!!! - lucab617 - 01-16-2007 GL to you. I believe the DSST computerized exams are much harder than the written exams. Thats just my take on it. I Passed!!! - MichaelGates - 01-17-2007 I took the DSST Criminal Justice and Introduction to Law Enforcement exams today. I got a 58 on Criminal Justice and a 66 on Introduction to Law Enforcement. CliffsQuickReview book on Criminal Justice was the best source. I went over the InstantCert questions, but most were not covered or were better covered in the CliffsQuickReview. InstantCert is good practice is you have not answered questions lately in an exam format and can help you understand the Cliffs book more easily. I would suggest going to the FBI website to get more on the Uniform Crime Reports. I Passed!!! - sgloer - 01-18-2007 Hey guys thanks for the feedback (especially lucab with your detailed feedback!). Things may have changed now that they've switched to the computerized version. I'll put Criminal Justice on the list to be improved based on the feedback you've provided, but in the meantime, we'll just advise people to use the cliffs notes supplement. I Passed!!! - nm279738 - 01-19-2007 What does "IC" stand for? Do you mean InstantCert? I Passed!!! - ShotoJuku - 01-19-2007 nm279738 Wrote:What does "IC" stand for? Do you mean InstantCert?
