Have I really messed up with the designated Institution? - dixiemaiden - 01-14-2011 Hi, I have a question about submitting the test score when you take a CLEP test. I have taken about seven cleps, and when I took the first one I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do when I was asked to chose a designated institution before I started the test. The lady at the testing center told me to just chose the college where I was taking the test. I did that, and have done that with the other tests I have taken. My questions are, are my test scores still on file with CLEP? And what should I do with my future tests? Thanks so much! ~Megan Have I really messed up with the designated Institution? - marianne202 - 01-14-2011 Yes your scores are on file with CLEP and will remain on file for 20 yrs. You will have to pay for a transcript when you are ready to transfer the credits to the school or your choice. The only benefit is that if you designate the school you intend to graduate from you would have saved the transcript fee, which right now is $20. No problem though. I hope this puts your mind at ease. Just a heads up, if you go to EC they will keep your scores on-file for 6 months even if you are not formally enrolled. I'm not sure about TESC or COSC. Good luck! You can order transcripts listing previous scores based off the instructions here: CLEP: Receiving, Sending, and Canceling CLEP Scores. Designate the school you want them sent to as part of the process. Have I really messed up with the designated Institution? - NAP - 01-14-2011 It probably doesn't hurt to send a score to a particular college. If you don't have a college planned, yet, you can always choose "Do not send" (or something like that) at the bottom of the list of States. (Note: This option is in the set-up phase, before taking the test.) Then request a transcript with your scores at a later time.
