Natural Science CLEP feedback - poindexter - 02-08-2007

Hello,

I just passed Natural Science Exam. I took the Biology exam aabout two to three weeks ago. Natural Science exam is alot easier then that exam. My score was 71 percent for Natural Science. I spent about three weeks studying. The questions were pretty easy and straightforward. There was alot of common sense questions. About 5 questions in regards to global warming, ozone layer, acid rain, and city pollution. There was quesitons in regards to Mitosis, Meiosis, cellular anatomy. I had to draw a punnet square for several quesitons. There were several enzyme questions. Know what causes contractions during birth. A RH question. There were several questions in regards to plants. Know difference between Monocot, Dicot, plant especially leaf count, and plant hormmones. Know predator, prey relationships, food chain. Know human anatomy. Know classes, phylums. About five questions there. For the physical science, I had a couple balanced equation questions. I also had about five half life (nuclear decay) questions. Allot of questions in regards to physics and geography. Some of the geography questions were hard.

This test is pretty easy and I recommend it for anyone that needs science credits. This test didnt really get too in depth in any subject, and there was questions that all you had to do was interpet a graph. I consider those questions freebies.

The study material I used.

REA Biology (Definatly read and remember)
Standard Deviant Biology and Chemistry (not a necessaty but useful)
David and Laura study guide (good primer, or helps refresh past memories)
REA Clep simulation software, (well worth money, a little harder then actual exam)
Peterson simulation software (well worth money, harder then the actual exam but I seen some questions that were on the real exam that they presented)

I like the simulation software because you get used to the timing of the test. The test is 90 minutes long and is 120 questions. Without practice you may come up short on the real exam.

I also went to the library and skimmed through a physical science book.

Hope this helps
