NY Times - STG - 03-28-2011 For my writing class about Racism Colonialism and the Emergence of the Third World, I need to attach a recent article from the New York Times talking about survival of the fittest- any article showing one group taking control over another group...if I don't get the NY Times, where can I find an article online? Thanks! Now, if Syria, in kind, finally lifts its emergency laws, then things will get interesting all over again in the region. NY Times - ryoder - 03-30-2011 Its going to turn into an Iranian controlled caliphate bent on Israel's destruction and the hastening of the return of the 12th imam. What'cha doin in Libya? blowin stuff up!!!!! 2. Is this a war? NO. It's blowin' stuff up!!!! 3. Moar detailz plzzz!!! Anti-aircraft missiles: YES. Ground troops: NO. 4. What's with this whole "coalition" thingy? The UN says "GO!" so we say "GO!" 5. Wait, what?! Why didn't we do this in Iraq? When do we blow stuff up by ourselves, and when do we invite friends? Cuz I wasn't the one with the big red button when it was pushed against Iraq. If we are in direct danger, I have no problem with us fighting alone. This is to prevent bad stuff from happening to other people. This isn't for the United States to handle, this looks like a job for NATO!!!!!! 5. What is NATO? The United States. NY Times - ryoder - 04-02-2011 Maniac I don't really understand what you are saying on this one but its funny. I think that Obama is different than Bush in that Bush 1 garnered the support of so many nations and congress to hit Saddam Hussein the first time around. Bush 2 garnered the support of fewer nations but did get congress to approve the war. Obama asked nobody in congress but did get a "go ahead" from the Arab league. The Arab league has not done squat since Obama has led the effort. They have turned their backs on the Libyan people but of course they did, they are a bunch of autocratic dictators themselves. How could they kill another dictator? I have a feeling that there will be congressional hearings on Obama's sort of swift action in Libya. I think we should have taken them out when they took down that Pan Am flight in the 80s but it is what it is. NY Times - STG - 04-02-2011 Thanks...I'm trying to see how this article is connected to Darwin's Survival of the Fittest...my professor says it does, but I don't see it. |
