TESC Prerequisites - MA2 - 04-18-2011

I've searched all over the TESC website and these forums and can't find anything about the prereqs needed to take a class at TESC. Normally when you look at the course outline or similar description of a course it lists any prerequisites or corequisites that the course requires.... But I can't find any on the TESC site.

Normally before taking intermediate accounting II, one would need intermediate accounting I (duh) but this isn't listed on the TESC website.

I know some are you are saying "well just take them in order and you're fine" ... well maybe but what about the less obvious ones? Like how do I know what classes I need to take before I try to take "Federal Income Taxation ACC-421" ??? etc...

I've talked to my advisor about this but they take forever to respond... does anyone know where I can find this out online?

Hi MA2,

On this page click on the link for the course you are interested in taking. Check "Advisory" and or comments for pre-reqs.

Yes I noticed that... so does that mean, for example:

ACC-411 Auditing Wrote:Advisory: It is advisable to have knowledge in a course equivalent to ACC-101 Principles of Financial Accounting with a grade of C or better to succeed in this course. Students are responsible for making sure that they have the necessary knowledge.

That it's basically "recommended, not required" that I have taken ACC-101 before I take that class?

So -technically- there are no prerequisites, just "suggestions" ???

That's my understanding. There is not much hand holding. If you don't do well you because you skipped a step you will either drop the course or fail and take again when you are better prepared. My opinion, it truly is a school for adult/adult minded individuals.

Yes I agree... just trying to get my "hens in a row" as they say... thought it was a little odd they didn't have prerequisites listed but I guess it makes sense the way you put it.

Thanks again.

They don't check. You can enroll in anything you want.

They don't say that, must be an MA2 exclusive. They would say ducks. But who is to say whether a duck or a chicken is a superior fowl?

hilarious If you're shooting your hens then they ought to be in a row too.

If I found 2 people that also say "hens in a row" then technically couldn't I say that "they" say that?

The search is on.

It's probably because hens don't follow each other around! Ducks do big time. We hatched ducks several years back and they walk in single file line from birth!
