Anybody take tests even after obtaining their degree? - Shemrat - 04-21-2011 I have no more tests to take but I still feel the itch to take more exams. Crazy, I know. They are free for military so I suppose my marbles aren't totally jarbled. Is this a normal feeling? Has anybody acted on these impulses? What sort of values can be placed on taking exams that have little to no bearing on your undergrad?
Anybody take tests even after obtaining their degree? - FinancialWorld - 04-21-2011 Ahhhh..my friend you have the addiction. I'm starting to wonder the same thing. Although I'm not military (not FREE), I've thought about some other tests that I want to take after I get my degree. I'll probably be put into a CLEP/DSST testing center asylum someday. Taking monitored exams the rest of my life. Unable to break my attention from the monitor. Taking that final click and waiting for my score to appear......Oh these terrible addictions. ROTFL Anybody take tests even after obtaining their degree? - burbuja0512 - 04-21-2011 Yes I am right there with you guys. I'm done testing but really miss it. I know that it makes more sense for me to move to an MBA program next, but I seriously considered another undergrad just because I miss testing.. I will see how I feel after the MBA program. I'm not convinced that my testing days are behind me. I enjoy it too much and yes it's all about the post-test adrenaline rush lol. Ha ha some people do extreme sports to get that rush... we are extreme testers. :coolgleam: Anybody take tests even after obtaining their degree? - BrandeX - 04-21-2011 Try some IT certs like COMPTia Anybody take tests even after obtaining their degree? - cookderosa - 04-21-2011 Shemrat Wrote:I have no more tests to take but I still feel the itch to take more exams. I think I would take several different tests just because they sound like fun and who knows, maybe they'll come in handy if I get my masters or a BS degree or whatever. Anybody take tests even after obtaining their degree? - Storyteller - 04-21-2011 I have always had my nose in a book, usually non-fiction. And because of that, I thought I knew a lot of stuff. But since I began testing, my memory has gone into overdrive. I find I'm now able to retain and recall tons of information and with greater detail. I couldn't do that before. And it's cool to be getting college credit without sitting in a classroom! Although I'm not finished testing, I'm already considering testing-out on a second major. And to paraphrase one IC forum member, "You get really good at Jeopardy." So, look out Ken Jennings...here I come...LOL LOL Anybody take tests even after obtaining their degree? - clep3705 - 04-21-2011 Don't do it. Find a more productive use of your time. Invest in yourself by spending the time exercising. Train for a marathon or triathlon. Now that you are educated and degreed, there are far better ways to satiate your obsessive compulsive urges. Don't move laterally, move upwards. There is one exception: If there is any remote chance that you might want to make a radical career change someday (nursing school comes to mind), take tests now that will help make that possible. Anybody take tests even after obtaining their degree? - Levi - 04-21-2011 So funny.... After taking about 25 CLEP/DSST exams to finish my degree, I actually kinda miss the experience of conquering another test. :p Anybody take tests even after obtaining their degree? - marianne202 - 04-21-2011 I'm right there with you all, except that I have already done 2 bachelor's degrees so I really don't have any way to really use the credits. I'm already working on my master's, so it can't help moving up. But that hasn't stopped me from thinking about it. The problem is my grad school won't put the credits on my transcript and since I'm no longer a student at EC I doubt they will add them on to my transcript - if anyone knows differently please let me know. So I have had to hold off. I am planning on doing the FEMA courses this summer, for fun and to obtain their certifcate. I just hope that doesn't start my downward spiral back to addiction!!! Maybe we all need to go see Dr. Drew! What a great addiction to have in light of all our choices. We could create a 12 step program, but it would probably included proctored exams! |
