#1 Penn Foster cost $105.00 Ace accredited
#2 University of Alaska Fairbanks cost $195 Regionally accredited

If I go with Penn Foster I think the class will just be listed as a P on my Ace transcript, with the university of Alaska I should be able to get a easy A letter grade on a RA transcript.

Or does ace award letter grades? I need to get my GPA up and need all the A's I can possibly get.

No ace does not award letter grades. The only difference I see is price. If the grade is that important to you I would say go with your second choice.

Have you checked LSU already? I think it is less expensive than Alaska. I'm not sure about the grading, though.

Lsu has proctors and requires you to buy a book, alaska has no proctors and there's no need for a book, everything you need is on blackboard, atleast that's what the student advisor said, i'm just wondering if i can complete it in a week.

I took the Penn Foster Info Lit class earlier this year and have a letter grade (A) on my Excelsior transcript. Not sure if ACE will or will not show the grade, but I sent the unopened transcript from Penn Foster directly to Excelsior.

Do you know which college this will be for?

Excelsior..

I'm just going to take it from Penn Foster.

Just confirming I took PF and also have a grade on my Excelsior transcript.

I signed up for the class, just waiting on the materials Smile

IIRC, you don't need any materials. Just go online and do it.

The upside of Penn Foster's info lit is price and a very easy A.

The downside is that getting anything out of Penn Foster after you give them your money is going to be difficult. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced in any business. You can google "penn foster reviews" to see what I mean, but the bottom line for you is that getting a transcript out of them in the future is going to be an uphill battle. I would actually prefer that they were out of business; telling my new school that would be much easier than trying to get a transcript out of these jackwagons.

Edit: Now that I am done ranting, here is some useful info.
- KEEP your student ID. Write it down somewhere safe. You will need it when you go to talk to them later (assuming they still exist in a couple more years).
- You want to talk to the Business and Industrial Center. Their number is 1-800-233-0259. Student Services cannot get you a transcript, since you won't have been a student technically.
- You took an "individual course". This term is important. Trying to describe what you did to these guys is like trying to order Big Mac without actually using the term.

Thank you for this information. This is exactly what I needed. I plan on taking the I.L. from Penn Foster as well. I just can't see myself throwing $300 on a course at Excelsior if I can get the exact same course fro $100.
