2 degrees from TESC using the same credits? - Elinor - 06-08-2011 I don't know if this is even remotely possible, but I figured someone on here did. I was playing around with my unofficial evaluation "What if I changed my program of study." I was curious if my FEMA credits could be applied substantially towards a different degree, and so I clicked the "AAS in Environmental, Safety & Security Technologies." Turns out, I can get that without any more work. However, I am just a course away from my history degree. Is there any way I can pay an extra graduation fee and get both? Not that I need the AAS or anything, it just sounded kind of cool if I could get 2 degrees for the work of one. Now that I've typed it all out, it sounds even more far-fetched, but it's worth asking anyway. 2 degrees from TESC using the same credits? - cookderosa - 06-08-2011 Elinor Wrote:I don't know if this is even remotely possible, but I figured someone on here did. Yes, an associate on the way to a bachelor's is pretty normal- I did this too. It will cost an additional graduation fee and then you have to wait one quarter until you can get your bachelor's degree. So, if your AAS is issued in for October graduation, your BA is then issued for February graduation. 2 degrees from TESC using the same credits? - bricabrac - 06-08-2011 Elinor, I also did the same last year but at the time you could not receive both at the same time. That restriction has now been lifted for Associate/Bachelors. "Students who desire both a Thomas Edison State College associate degree and a Thomas Edison State College baccalaureate degree may have both degrees awarded together in the same graduation cycle. " You have two options: You can wait to complete the final history course and apply for both degrees in the same grad cycle, just submit two separate forms. Or like Cook said, you can apply for the next cycle. (1) AAS - apply on or before July 1 for September graduation (2) BA - apply on or before Oct 1 for December graduation 2 degrees from TESC using the same credits? - Elinor - 06-08-2011 bricabrac Wrote:"Students who desire both a Thomas Edison State College associate degree and a Thomas Edison State College baccalaureate degree may have both degrees awarded together in the same graduation cycle. " Oh! That is SO cool! I'm gonna do it! :hurray: (though it's slightly laughable, considering I remember very little about the FEMAs I took...) Thanks, y'all! 2 degrees from TESC using the same credits? - dcan - 06-08-2011 Elinor Wrote:I was playing around with my unofficial evaluation "What if I changed my program of study." I have not yet enrolled in TESC so I can't play with their ninja wizard software everyone talks about. :nopity: Can you lay out the requirements for the degree as you will meet them? The TESC website simply says "area of study" with no details. Did you fill that up completely with FEMAs? I'm interested in this for myself and my wife and possibly my step-son as well. My wife and I just finished in-person CERT training and are looking at state EM certification as well and this would be another great addition. Is it possible for you to toss out a real quick degree plan? We would be eternally grateful! 2 degrees from TESC using the same credits? - ryoder - 06-09-2011 Dcan no need to enroll just pay the 75 dollar application fee and get a degree eval and you will be able to run your own evals on the site. 2 degrees from TESC using the same credits? - Elinor - 06-09-2011 dcan Wrote:I have not yet enrolled in TESC so I can't play with their ninja wizard software everyone talks about. :nopity: Here's what it automatically does with the credits I've earned when I choose the AAS in Environmental, Safety & Security Technologies: Quote:Program Status: In Progress Hope that helps! 2 degrees from TESC using the same credits? - dcan - 06-09-2011 That is awesome! Like if I wanted to get an ASBA and a BSBA, would I be allowed or do they have to be in different areas? Thanks. |
