Business Degree at the Big Three - EI2HCB - 09-04-2011 Hello Everyone I'm trying to consolidate information about getting a general business degree at one of the big three and need help establishing which CLEP DANTES and other exams can help acquire a general Business Degree so if we can have you post your degree which should be Business based and then each exam you took in sequence so that we can allow everyone to see the steps forward and then they'll know what courses they need to cover using InstantCert and not take courses that the big three don't require you to have in order to gain your Business Degree. I appreciate your help Also if you could list any additional books or videos you sourced information on then that would help us out too! thanks Des Business Degree at the Big Three - Yenisei - 09-04-2011 I'd suggest using the search function since all of this has been covered previously. TESC General Management is one search string I would use. Business Degree at the Big Three - bricabrac - 09-04-2011 :iagree: and you can do the same for excelsior and cosc. Here are a few business plan threads to get you started. Unfortunately, my plan would not be of use to you because I both tested and took courses. excelsior (jackbanta) http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-thomas-edison-charter-oak-specific/13550-excelsior-bs-business-degree-plan-2.html#post111034 (barcotta) http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-thomas-edison-charter-oak-specific/5505-excelsior-degree-completion-w-diploma-transcript.html?highlight=excelsior+business+degree tesc (levi) http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-thomas-edison-charter-oak-specific/12336-my-complete-bsba-degree-plan-tesc.html Business Degree at the Big Three - ryoder - 09-04-2011 bricabrac is very helpful If you have any specific questions let me know. I completed a BSBA at TESC in June so I have been there and done that. It is a road well traveled so you should not encounter any surprises. Use the search, look at my topics circa Nov,Dec, Jan, Feb to see how this forum helped me achieve my goals. Business Degree at the Big Three - ShotoJuku - 09-04-2011 Does it have to be from one of the BIG-3? Business Degree at the Big Three - EI2HCB - 09-05-2011 Folks Thank you for taking the time and pointers on what I should begin to search for the forum here. It seems the forum a vast jungle of information so pointing me to the treetops that I need will be helpful. I'm trying to eliminate studying CLEP Subjects that won't contribute to a Business Degree anywhere actually, but if you have pointers of other colleges that prove helpful and don't cost a lot of money. I've got little or no money but plenty of time at the moment so I'll start with a plan that's been well travelled and see how I get on. I'd rather not pay to register with an institutions advisor to tell me what road I need to take until I can get a start in the basics and then pay a college to tell me what I need to graduate with them. ( Am I mistaken in this or will college advisors give me free info for my study track?) I've got a year at the moment in which I'm studying in Ireland doing an Advanced Certificate in Office in Administration but I'll be moving to the United States next year so want to set my goals ahead of time and start into it soon. I will be able to transfer some credits from but won't be able to get a clear picture until I've actually sent the certificate to a verification body in the United States in at least October 2011. thanks again for the info and I do appreciate your help. Des Business Degree at the Big Three - ryoder - 09-05-2011 Just do the micro, macro, biz law, marketing and management cleps for now. Those will work in any degree you choose and are required for a business degree. That will give you something to chew on for a while and being CLEPs, they are accepted by all colleges. Go to the bookstore, buy the REA books for those and start reading. Also get the 2011 CLEP guide which has practice tests for each CLEP. Use the practice tests in this book as a last guide to see if you are ready to take the real deal. What are REA books also are DSST exams available to people who don't have any connection to the military? Business Degree at the Big Three - LaterBloomer - 09-06-2011 REA stands for Research and Education Association. They publish a series of books that they like to advertise as "The Best Test Preparation for the CLEP College-Level Examination Program." They normally retail new for $34.95 each, but you can buy used versions. The newer version come with CDs for practice exams. Folks on the forum swear by them. As of yet, I haven't taken a test that required me to use one. (I've taken easier tests. Easy for me meaning I have some previous knowledge of the topic.) If you're looking for them in a bookstore, there's a black ribbon with yellow type on the top. The rest is mostly white. They'er about 10 inches tall by 6 inches wide, and 3/4 of an inch deep. DSST (formerly known as Dantes) are tests that are open to everyone. Even though the word "Defense" shows up in the title of the exam, these are NOT exams directed at military or defense topics. (Your technical writing test isn't going to be "in basic training, does the drill sergeant most frequently uses the "f-word" as a noun, verb, adjective, or adverb?") There is even a book published taht has study material for a partial collection of the DSST exams. I can take my CLEPS and DSSTs at the local DeVry Universtiy. Good luck.
Business Degree at the Big Three - bkahuna - 09-06-2011 For the most part you're going to have some of these requirements regardless of big 3 university chosen: Again please make sure you check your specific university!
