Help find two courses RA online, please? - mrs.b - 12-06-2011

I've searched. I know they're out there at a reasonable price - they must be - but my eyes are crossing from hunting various schools. My budget is in the $200/credit or less neighborhood, where less is obviously much better. CSU-Pueblo, BYU, and all the other usual suspects for online do not have them, and I've dug through literally hundreds of other schools' websites at this point with no luck. Here's what I'm looking for and just not finding.

Employment Law. I'm looking for a broad type of course, online (ideally self-paced, but not picky at this point). And I'd like it to be from an RA school. I've found a possible option at a local college (see signature), but it's hybrid, requiring campus visits once a week which would be problematic with my work schedule. Price is very right, and my employer is very supportive of the degree pursuit, but still. I'll do it if I must, but fully online is better, and I'm willing to pay a bit more to avoid the disruption to work.

Compensation Management. There is an option at Penn Foster, but I would really like an RA course for my second major core area of study.

Of the schools I've found that do offer a version online, they're not accredited. Of the few accredited schools I've found that offer them, they want $400+/credit. Is this one of those things where I'll either need to write the bigger check or lower the standards?

Any help is sincerely appreciated. (Sorry for whining. This has been a 6+ month hunt, is all. It's a little frustrating.)

I don't have any direct leads, but you could try calling your TESC advisor for suggestions. They may have a name or two for you to try.

Employment Law - Madison Area Technical College (MATC Course)

@cookderosa -- I tried that, but they will only recommend TESC courses. To follow is the response I received when asking the first time:
"I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble finding suitable replacements for the courses you'd like to use in the HROM electives section. While I can't provide any outside course recommendations, please consider the following TESC courses you may want to use to satisfy the area:" (and included a list of courses I'm not interested in and would have little application in my career). I tried again later, wording the question a bit differently in the hopes that there was just a miscommunication, and again, a different Advisor responded but still would not offer recommendations for any courses other than ones TESC offers. If I can find the course myself, they approve (or not, in one case) without any issue, but they require I do the legwork. I get it, they're in the education business...which is still a business, and pointing someone to the "competition" doesn't make a lot of financial sense, but I have zero interest in the few options they have to fulfill the HROM concentration requirements. Is there a specific Advisor I could ask for that might offer an actual recommendation?

@brothert69 -- That might work! Thanks! I'll call tomorrow and see what my chances are of making it onto the wait list of one of the two Spring online courses.
