I need help from my homeschool cohorts. I'm making a list of homeschool curriculum BRANDS that can be used for CLEP/DSST/AP. Here's the thing, I don't want support material, I have zillions (Khan, Purplemath, Learner.org, etc are not what I need). What I want to know is if you've used a specific BRAND of curriculum for a specific exam. For instance, you might say "my son used Alpha Omega Life Pack 1100 Chemistry and then took the Chem CLEP" or such. If you have any specifics PLEASE share!

I used Bob Jones' American Goverment high school text book for studying the American Government CLEP. That along with Instantcert was just what I needed and I passed with a 67.
I also used Bob Jones' United States History (11th grade textbook) for studying for the History of the United States I CLEP test. That was great for helping me get the big picture. In addition, I used Instantcert and the videos from HippoCampus. That one I passed with a 72.

I have heard of several homeschool families using Notgrass curriculum and then taking the corresponding CLEP. They have curriculum for US History I, US History II, World History I and II, and American Government, I believe.

Are your high school courses suitable for AP/CLEP study or Honors credit?
We have heard from several parents who used our courses to help prepare their students well in these areas. For instance, cne woman has used our government, world history, and American history courses at a homeschool co-op. Three of her students took and passed the AP U.S. Government exam after using our course along with the Barron's Government AP study guide. She describes our courses as "excellent, college-preparatory, AP level materials."
Another mother used our Exploring Government course. "[O]ur oldest son used your Exploring US Government curriculum. He loved it. Along with an AP test study guide, he used it to prepare for the AP US Government exam. You probably know that the APs are scored on a scale from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest). My son's score was 5. While the test prep book was helpful for learning test taking skills, my son said everything he needed to know to pass was in your curriculum."
A third family used our Exploring America course and the mother told us, "I could not be more pleased with the curriculum! I anticipated it being wonderful, and it has surpassed my expectations. In addition to completing the course, my son has passed the CLEP tests for American History I and II. He interacted with the issues using Scripture in this course, with great focus on what was happening spiritually in America amidst other events. The value of that is much greater than the college credit earned! As I write, I am thanking the Lord for His calling and equipping your family to prepare these incredible resources for home learners." Yet another student passed the "History of the United States I" CLEP test using our course and the REA study guide.
Of course, past results are not a guarantee of future results, but we feel that our courses do provide a strong foundation in the subject area covered. We recommend using a study guide for the particular test your child wants to take.
My daughter just started their American Government curriculum this month. She really likes it so far.

I *hear* apologia science 1 AND 2 with the REA/Peterson is enough or very close.
I think Kolbe junior and senior year history/literature is good. Certainly for US 1 and 2.

I've used a bunch of old high school books for my CLEP tests, especially the U.S. History exams. Those were my main sources for those two, and I passed easily.

Two of my siblings used Teaching Textbooks Algebra and went and took the Algebra CLEP.
My brother also used Pre-Cal. Teaching Textbooks, and passed the Pre-Cal. CLEP. That one was interesting though! He had to graduate in just a few weeks from college, and needed 3 more credits, so since he had to go to the testing center anyway, my mom said "Why don't you just go try Pre-Cal. It will not hurt you if you don't pass since you're graduating in a few weeks and won't be able to take it again anyway." So he took a practice test. And got a....20!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then he went and took the real thing, and got around a 60!!!! hilarious That one was just....amazing! But the Teaching Textbooks Algebra have really seemed to help both of them with the Algebra CLEP, not so much College math though!

i was homeschooled, and i have found out that abeka highschool textbooks seem to work great! i failed a clep using bob jones, theres seem to not contain as much information and focus more on application to life (which is great for life, but not for cleps)

Who is the author of the Homeschool Psychology book? I need to take the Intro to Psychology CLEP next. I have a book called Homeschool Psych: Preparing Christian Homeschool Students for Psych 101 by Dr. Time Rice. I was wondering if that was the same as your book, or if that was a different one?
