Should I take the English Composition with or without Essay? - sumjeff - 02-10-2012 I'm new here, in fact, I just joined last week. I'm amazed at how helpful everyone is and how exciting an atmosphere it is. I took the American Government CLEP on Wednesday and I passed with a 53 after only studying the IC flashcards for a few days. I'm now very excited and ready to take the English Composition CLEP, but I'm not sure if I should take the one with or without the essay? Should I take the English Composition with or without Essay? - Storyteller - 02-10-2012 If you check the Clep site you'll find both College Comps require essays - At TESC they give 6 credits for Clep College Comp and 3 credits for Clep College Comp Modular. Always go for the 6 credits whenever you can. Good luck. Should I take the English Composition with or without Essay? - BGSU_Alum_86 - 02-10-2012 You need to find out from your university what their requirements are, plus find out how many credits they would grant for a passing score. College Composition has 2 built-in essays (so required). The College Composition Modular has an optional essay section. These essays can be supplied by CLEP and reviewed by your university, or they can be supplied by your university and then reviewed by your university. You need to contact your university and not just guess. Adviser may have been wrong though, but I didn't bother checking. I took the class anyway since I'd never written college essays before, so I needed to learn before I took any more classes. You should ask just to be sure. Thanks for the input. At EC, they will not count as Written English, and last I heard on this forum, they do not count as Humanities either despite what the Student Guide says. Would you check with your advisor about this for us? If you need Written English, there are many ways to do this, which are listed in the school catalog. Consider the ECE and SL. If you need Humanities credit, consider A&I Lit CLEP; it is a favorite on this forum. |
