If anyone who has taken this exam could provide some advice/areas to really focus on during the week prior to the exam I would appreciate it. I've been studying for this exam what feels like forever (a month) and still feel unprepared.

One piece of advice I have is that if you need to take a class through TESC in order to get a GPA, make it The Middle East HIS-310. The material covered in that class will more than adequately prepare you for the exam. You also get credit for both as upper level courses (the DSST exam counts as HIS-309). The text for the class can be used in studying for the DSST exam:
A Concise History of the Middle East, 9th ed., by Arthur Goldschmidt Jr. (Boulder, CO: Westview Press, 2010)
