Straighterline Anatomy and Physiology I&II HELP!!! - Doctor H - 04-22-2012

Hello Good People,

Has anyone done SL's Anatomy & Physiology Courses???

1. Do I need the book? Will another book suffice or is the subjebt matter of the exams synchronized with the book? ie. Chapter 1 is on Cell Structure.....then Quiz 1 is on Cell Structure.

Thanx a bunch!!!

Yes it is synchronized exactly - chapters coincide with quizzes so you can figure out the material on the quizzes for the most part. You can get through it without the book if you have other reference material (another A&P text or online reference)- however - I have heard that everything on the exams is verbatim in the book. I've taken human body before this and without the book, my grades in SL A&P were a B and B+ (one in 7 days the other in 2 weeks). I wish I had gotten the book just to know the verbage/wording and streamline exactly what I needed to know on the exams. Its likely would have had A's. IMO -I'd put them on the "reasonably tough course that covers a lot of material and actually takes a little thought and effort " category Hope that helps.

Definitely get the used book older edition from Amazon it makes it much easier (and not that expensive). I loved both those classes and enjoyed reading the book which I felt was well written and interesting. You can do it with another text, but it will be a bit harder. Since you only need one book for both classes it is worth it to save yourself some trouble.

I want to take the Lab version of A&P II. I was checking the lab stuff and was like 250 or something like that. Can I do the lab version of the class without spending a fortune on the lab?

That is what has deterred me from taking A&P I and II and Microbiology through Straighterline. The lab kits are expensive! Even though the Microbiology course is offered for free through Saylor, you still have to pay for a subscription with Straighterline plus a $25 ProctorU fee. So, you're really only saving $24 on the course and the lab kit eats up all of the savings. I know of a CC that gives lab credit for the Microbiology ECE which is about $305. I'm debating if I should just chance it and take the test.

Use the book. I bought the book Seely's 9th off Amazon, used, for a very cheap price. Quizzes and content are in the exact order.

What CC has Microbiology? I am totally interested in what this class has to offer.

I'm not planning on taking the class; I plan on taking the ECE and transferring it to a CC. A lot of CCs offer Microbiology online. The cheapest for non-residents would have to be New Mexico Junior College. I can't remember if Clovis CC offers Microbiology online. You might even find an online Microbiology course at an in-district or in-state CC at a low cost. I know there are several CCs in my state that offer it.

Cowley Community College in KS offers same tuition for in-state and out of state when it comes to Online classes. I think it is 115 per credit. Rejeanna Young is the teacher to go with for that class
