Texas - Location for DSST Principles of Public Speaking?? - DRSclep - 04-23-2012
We are having a very hard time locating a testing center that offers this test: Principles of Public Speaking. During the test, the student records a live speech and apparently not all testing centers have the equipment to offer this test. We are in the Houston area. Any suggestions are most welcome!

You could use the search feature at getcollegecredit.com and find all Houston test centers and call each one. It's not hard at all to do. There aren't that many of them.
The least expensive DSST test center in Houston is DeVry. They don't charge an administrative fee and they definitely administer Public Speaking.
You may reach DeVry's test administrator at (713)973-3155 for the current hours of operation.

The only special equipment needed by the test center is a headset that include a microphone and this is supplied by DSST if the test center is already listed as supplying exams via the computer. If the test center has not gone through the necessary training, it is possible they are not aware of the proper way to launch the multiple-choice section and then the speech section. The test center administrator/proctor needs to call DSST and admit they need some assistance. It is not that difficult and won't take them much time to catch on...

Thanks for the good information! SHSU also offers it - they have a private room they will schedule for you if you call (can't schedule this one online) but they do offer the test there. University of Phoenix in The Woodlands has a great testing center with private rooms, but they don't offer this particular test.
